MSNBC needs to be careful with all of these foul-weather Republican hires. If things ever return to a sense of normality, they may not seem as level-headed as they seem now.

although I think the state law says one would need to be decided/scheduled by 60 days.

Our primary is in May so if he had announced/resigned last month, it could have been held then. Will have to see what Wolf decides to do.

to the Moonie paper....

Rep. Charlie Dent said Monday that Congress needs to have more oversight on issues concerning President Trump, including to protect special counsel Robert Mueller.

“It would be a self-destructive act to do that, and it would set off a political crisis,” Mr. Dent, Pennsylvania Republican, said on CNN, of Mr. Trump possibly firing the special counsel.

I do believe we should act and that is one area where we have made mistakes in Congress — it is that we have not provide enough robust oversight on the president on some of these issues,” Mr. Dent said.

He added that it’s not just about the special counsel’s ongoing probe into the president’s 2016 campaign, but also on issues like trade, where many Republicans have voiced concern. Mr. Dent said there needs to be a bigger push to check the president.

“This is a toxic and challenging political environment for Republicans. It’s a perilous environment. Let’s be honest,” said retiring Rep. Charlie Dent (R-PA). “We shouldn’t be kidding ourselves about this: Big wave coming—get off the beach”

Dent claims to be moderate and the GOP has swung too far right for him.

We can either force the GOP to spend millions trying to defend this seat or we can go for it in November with the new district lines making it even more competitive. We have a fighting chance here for a change.

resume. He wasn't all that partisan and the "moderate" label carried over to congressional elections even though he rarely bucks the GOP in congress.

If he waits till November, then the seat is likely Dem.
