Democratic FCC Commissioner stepping down
Source: The Hill
Federal Communications Commissioner Mignon Clyburn on Tuesday announced that she would be stepping down from her post at the agency.
Her resignation follows months of anticipation that she would leave the agency.
The Democratic Commissioner has held her post at the FCC since being nominated by former President Obama and confirmed by the Senate in 2009.
She briefly served as interim FCC chairwoman for five months in 2013, the first woman to hold the distinction.

(42,715 posts)Rather than take up nominations one-by-one, it has become common to "pair" a republican nominee and a Democratic nominee and consider/confirm them at the same time. For example, last August, Brendan Carr (R) and Jessica Rosenworcel (D) were paired for confirmation to fill two open seats at the FCC.
There is less reason to do this now that nominees can't be filibustered, but it wouldn't surprise me if its handled that way.
