Trump to hold rally on same night as White House Correspondents' dinner

Source: The Hill

President Trump will speak at a campaign rally in Michigan on April 28, the same night of the White House Correspondents’ Association (WHCA) Dinner, the president’s campaign announced Tuesday.

The event will take place at 7 p.m. in Washington, Mich., located just outside of Detroit.

It is the second consecutive year that Trump will hold a rally outside Washington instead of attending the annual dinner. Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders is expected to attend this year to represent the White House.

“While the fake news media will be celebrating themselves with the denizens of Washington society in the swamp that evening, President Trump will be in a completely different Washington, celebrating our national economic revival with patriotic Americans,” Michael Glassner, COO of the Trump campaign, said in a statement.

This easier for his staff than listening to his whining all night when he sees all the people on TV laughing at him.

Nixon, Carter, and Reagan most recently... but none since then until Trump, and none in the last century skipped every time until Trump.

Oh... and Reagan had a pretty good excuse for the one he missed (having been recently shot).

All I know is that Obama was marvelous at those dinners-- he could tell a joke like no one's business.

Miss him.

Trump holding a rally AGAINST fake news to avoid the White House Correspondents Dinner, only to bait the fake news to cover him.

Well, not "just" outside Detroit. Maybe 20 miles outside of Detroit. Far enough to be in deep red exurbs. 68% Trump vote.

Wonder if Kid Rock is behind this? I wouldn't describe Washington as a hotbed for teabaggers. Mostly it's a small town with no real downtown, and I don't know any local political people who would want to hitch their wagons to Trump.
