RTs Skripal Coverage Investigated by U.K. TV Watchdog

Source: The Daily Beast

Britain’s broadcasting regulator has opened up seven investigations into Russia Today after the Kremlin state-funded news channel potentially breached impartiality laws during its reporting on the attempted murders of Sergei and Yulia Skripal. The attack on the Skripals in Salisbury, England—which the British government concluded was carried out by the Russian state using a deadly nerve agent—sparked international condemnation and led to the expulsion of Russian diplomats by governments across the Western world. The regulator, known as Ofcom, announced the investigations, saying: “Since the events in Salisbury, we have observed a significant increase in the number of programmes on the RT service that warrant investigation as potential breaches of the Ofcom Broadcasting Code.” All of the potential breaches relate to impartiality in Skripal coverage.

Britain has media "impartiality laws"? How very quaint. FailureToCommunicate Apr 2018 #1

Though they will probably start with censure, fines, forced to read a statement of retraction.

Also political advertising is non existent on TV or radio. Instead political parties get allocated time for a "party political broadcast". These are scheduled ahead of time, so you know when to tune away to a different channel.

Fox News got caught by those same media impartiality laws too...

I'm sure there are more than just that one who was presumably innocently regurgitating RT's propaganda and admitted where it came from.

They helped get Dems to stay home in 2016, so "mission accomplished," I guess?

Just look at the pervasive notion, still being pushed, that Democrats aren't intrinsically progressive and committed to progressive government. Even as we campaigned on dozens of large progressive advances already planned in detail. Shocking proof that this stuff works.

American propaganda operations to convince voters that we were corrupt and hardly better than Republicans dwarf Russia's many times over, tho. From what I've read, RT mainly piggybacks on domestic efforts to twist perceptions and persuade their targets to stay home, or to enthusiastically support people who can't win. Same thing.
