Pittsburgh police told to prepare for protests over potential Mueller firing

Source: The Hill

Police detectives in Pittsburgh have been instructed to start bringing their riot gear, over fears that President Trump could soon fire special counsel Robert Mueller and set off widespread protests.

WTAE reporter Marcie Cirpriani obtained emails sent to detectives in Pittsburgh warning them of a “potential large scale protest” in the city.

“There is a belief that President Trump will soon move to fire Special Prosecutor Mueller. This would result in a large protest within 24 hours of the firing,” the email read.

Noting that the “protest would be semi-spontaneous and more than likely happen on short notice,” detectives were instructed to “bring a full uniform and any issued protective equipment (riot gear) with them to work until further notice.” The email was signed by Commander Victor Joseph of Pittsburgh’s major crimes division.

They should be charged with obstruction and if the citizen dies with murder. The right to peaceful assembly must be enforced.

People who'll throw rocks, set fires, and otherwise vandalize anything in their way in order to justify repressing all demonstrations against Cheetolini.

Plus, of course, to provide Faux News with useful propaganda footage ("enraged Democrats have turned to violence..." ).

Fascists have always relied on paramilitaries - unofficial forces armed to the teeth and given near-total impunity, in return for their services to whatever despot.

We know that during the Dubya years, Cheney openly entertained using Blackwater for precisely that - particularly after the 2004 election (when they thought the Ohio fraud might be exposed) and during Bush's catastrophic last year in office.

I just hope our Joint Chiefs realize the magnitude of the problem, and are prepared to act against any third-worldy ideas that might be percolating in that orange head.

All these linkages between Prince and deVos and russians and trump and murder-most-foul.

What person interested in a sane and healthy society would support a pResident and a congress that obstructs any attempt to limit armaments in the hands of a militia? Not a well-regulated one, just one that can do the bidding of the masters when the time comes.

Reminds me of the thugs that took over the Crimea infiltrating from russia. The ones that off dissidents (poison, defenestration). The ones operating with complicity by dump's personal lawyer.

Thank gawd for this last bit of transparency because of news outlets that understand the dangers (special call-out to ProPublica, ThinkProgress, DU)

Remember in the Marches that started the Black Lives Matter Movement? I think there were reports of people who-later- ID'd some impersonators/rabble rousers that blended in the crowd. Seems later they were to be found to be CA CHIPS Police? Just my vague recollection.
Once stuff like that happens like breaking windows, the Officers on the other of the Marchers side, will feel compelled to move in on people. Be VERY cognizant of these types of folks. 'They' sometimes come in behind you. The truly angry will be on the front lines...not behind everyone screaming. Easy to spot and move away from. Be careful for the people next to you, and be aware for crowd control traps like this that put peaceful demonstrators in a "looting" situation or worse, w permission to shoot orders etc. (In the name of public safety). Remember Blackwater(Xe...whatever) Contractors aren't just for the Middle East anymore. Think of New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina. Happens. Don't repeat history. People died for racks of water, and the authorities found that to be ok in some circumstances. Just so we all remember, stealing isn't punishable by death, but they justify it. So don't do it. Don't forget, Erik Prince is mad at America too.
I hope he doesn't do it, but, Fridays coming and he thinks if he dominates the weekend news, he can control the discussion for a few days unfettered. Cumulatively that stacks up.
Personally, I think he intends to terrorize us so bad that we beg him just to leave...to just go and we call it even. Question is, how bad does that look for our Country by then? We are far from finished as a Democratic Republic. Keep your chin up, and don't give anybody a reason to hurt you or the person next to you.

As dirty tricks go, this is one of the oldest - but most reliable.

Viewers on tv are inevitably led to believe that "protesters" are behind the vandalism - thus giving despots a win-win.

And I'm a little surprised by the auto-take without further information. This isn't a fascist state yet. For now we do know:

There IS real risk that Trump will fire Mueller soon.

If that happens, there WILL be mass demonstrations, and inevitably riots, in the streets. (I'll be there, and this reminds me I really need to stop futzing around and get a sign made up ahead of need, been meaning to for weeks.)

If that happens, ALL personnel on the streets will need their protective gear, including the detectives assigned to Major Crimes, not just patrol officers.

I'm actually pretty sure police departments across the nation have been preparing, certainly all properly run ones, and have very detailed protocols in place ready to implement at a moment's notice.

Our cops will be sympathic with the protest marchers. Almost everybody here is Democratic. The ones that aren't keep it quiet, because their family members all are.

We'll be OK here - and we definitely will MARCH.

I've never joined a protest myself but support the right of others to do so - especially against rampant corruption like the kind we're seeing.

But it may be the work of trolls. After all, their goal is chaos, and this is what this sort of thing does - contribute to uncertainty, chaos, increased tensions, etc.

It might be helpful if the Pittsburgh police called in some tech people to track this e-mail back through the system to figure out where it originated.

because they are fatigued by it

It will not go away. Last night Rachel Maddow showed how Trump can replace the Federal Prosecutor in NY that overseas the new Cohen inquiry, and you can see how Congressional Republicans are stonewalling OSC protection legislation

Things like this that are unpopular, that those in power want quashed ... are typically taken out at choke points. One official, one ruling, one obscure law, one time point where the public is distracted. Every holiday is a candidate. McConnell will stall anything he wants to. Courts can be friendly to whomever appointed them.

So beware. It's coming.

... then Rosenstein's replacement will fire Mueller, most likely. I would assume that whomever gets the nod will be someone who agrees to do the firing.

Yes there will be a very large protest in Pittsburgh when that happens, but not just here. There will be civil unrest in at least 100 cities across the country, and there will be HELL TO PAY. I imagine most of the Pittsburgh Police will be sympathetic with the protesters.
