Donnelly becomes third Dem to support Pompeo

Source: The Hill

Sen. Joe Donnelly (D-Ind.) on Monday became the third Democrat to say he will vote for CIA Director Mike Pompeo to be President Trump's next secretary of State.

"We need a Secretary of State who will give the president an honest assessment on critical issues, including Russia, Syria, and the defeat of ISIS. I believe Director Pompeo is capable of advancing U.S. interests and leading the State Department," Donnelly said in a statement.

Pompeo already has the votes needed to be confirmed by the full Senate.

In addition to Donnelly, Democratic Sens. Joe Manchin (W.Va.) and Heidi Heitkamp (N.D.) — each of whom are up for reelection in states Trump won in 2016 — have said they will vote for Pompeo.

why are the GOP allowed to be the monolith party while we must be flexible? Is it about money, media control, and power, or do we lack tight ideology and party discipline? I never get a handle on these things.

I expressed my disappointment to Joe, but he's a pretty decent guy, and both of his possible opponents will be disastrous.

In the Republican wave election of 2010, when Charles and David Koch emerged as defining figures in American politics, the greatest beneficiary of Koch Industries largesse was a political newcomer named Mike Pompeo. After his election to the House eight years ago, Pompeo was referred to as the “Koch Brothers’ Congressman” and “the congressman from Koch.”

rest of the DINO's They're a great part of the reason that Obama wasn't able to get as much of his agenda as he should have. All they accomplish with their hand wringing and pearl clutching is give the label of "bipartisanship" to all the horrible picks Trump sticks us with as Cabinet members. Fuck all of them.

this will help him get republican votes. But it won't, not in Indiana. The three fucksticks in the R primary are all shitting themselves to get further right than the other guy and they all portray Donnelly as a wild eyed liberal. They're all dirty and one of these smegma eaters will likely be the next senator from Indiana.
