GOP moves to cut debate time for Trump nominees

Source: MSN/The Hill

Republicans are pushing forward with a proposal to change the Senate's rules to speed up consideration of President Trump's nominees.

The move is likely to ramp up tensions surrounding nominations, which had already become a flashpoint during the Trump era.

The proposal got a jolt of momentum Wednesday when the Rules and Administration Committee, which includes Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), approved the rules change in a 10-9 party-line vote.

If approved by the full Senate, the proposal would affect how the chamber handles hundreds of the president's picks.

The GOP is trying to limit the damaging disclosures from Trump's nominees. Perhaps this will be in place prior to the Ronny Jackson hearings.

...just trying to ram thru the changes they want until their loss of power. They see the writing on the wall and want to do as much damage as possible to advance their twisted and despicable ideals. It certainly didn't start with the current asshole in charge though.

I'm an optimist though. I see, a few years ahead, of days and weeks and years of democratic presidential executive orders, house legislation with senate approval to eventually reverse the damage done and place safeguards against the republic from ever being attacked in this form again.

With shorter position interviews come more questionable votes, leading to fewer appointments. No senator with a pulse will accept a rubber stamp in place of procedure.

as McTurtle and his gang of thieves may think. With all the Trumpian failures at vetting, I do think even some Republiscums may balk and demand more details on most nominees. Yes, they also see the handwriting on the wall yet it's a stretch we'll take the Senate. Hopefully we do!

... they can reduce time for discussion. Problem is, nobody is vetting anybody.

of nominees. Something we need more than ever before because the Trump administration does not vet nominees. They are nominated at the president's whim based on his enormous gut instincts, and how much cocaine he has snorted in the last hour.
