Trump says Pompeo wasn't initially supposed to meet with Kim Jong Un

President Donald Trump on Thursday revealed more details about CIA Director Mike Pompeo’s clandestine visit to North Korea earlier this month, saying that Pompeo initially wasn’t expected to meet face-to-face with Kim Jong Un. The president also continued to waffle on whether a historic summit between himself and Kim would take place.

“It was more than hello. They got along,” Trump told the hosts of “Fox & Friends” in a phone interview, referring to the meeting between Pompeo and Kim. “They spoke, and [Pompeo] also spoke with his counterparts in North Korea. They had a great meeting. He then left. It was very, very secret. Very, very quiet.”

"He wasn't supposed to meet with Kim Jong Un, but he did," Trump said.

Trump said Pompeo, who Trump nominated in March to become his secretary of state, met with the North Korean dictator for more than an hour.
