UPDATE 04/30: Trump is continuing his attacks on the White House Correspondents Dinner, tweeting Monday morning during an airing of Fox & Friends that the event is DEAD as we know it.

President Donald Trump apparently couldnt wait until Monday mornings episode of Fox & Friends to express his outrage at the White House Correspondents Dinner monologue, delivered with acerbic disdain by comedian Michelle Wolf.
The speech, in which Wolf brutally lampooned Sarah Huckabee Sanders for her dishonesty as the White House press secretary sat feet away on the dais, received rebukes from many members of the media who attended the dinner.
Trump, who skipped the dinner again this year, did not watch it on his massive television screen. Instead, he delivered one of his trademark rallies in Michigan, in which he took time to bash the dinner thrown by the White House Correspondents Association as phony.

(10,057 posts)Destroying the press is crucial to his overall agenda I suppose. This is not about the comedian. This is about making the WH press correspondents effectively take a loyalty oath to him and giving him whatever he desires...and it looks like he just might get it...or at least get a divided press corps- those concerned with asking tough questions and gathering facts willing to get called out and battered by Trump on Twitter and at his ego boosting rallies, and those willing to go along for the easy ride.

(2,004 posts)The collaborators in the news media who are criticizing her are demonstrating their values. They are more interested in keeping their cushy jobs and "access" than telling the American people the truth.
Mika and Maggie should apologize for all their efforts in creating the monster, along with many of their male collaborator/colleagues in propping up the illegal Trump regime.

Less flippantly, this (mis)administration would be funny if only it weren't real and causing so much damage and chaos.

(8,971 posts)Any line that might have been crossed at WHCD had already been eradicated by Trump, so essentially there was no longer any line to cross. The daily twitter meltdowns, dog-whistling, juvenile name-calling, false accusations, fabrications, threats of incarceration, vulgarities, and wanton displays of ignorance have been witnessed and endured by billions world-wide. Consequently, his bad behavior and the resulting blowback and are now embedded in our public discourse. It doesn't matter one iota that Trump can't take it after dishing it out. He's reaping what he has already sown.

(16,104 posts)"Do I come up here and just try to fit in and not ruffle any feathers? Or, do I say how I really feel because this event is about celebrating the first amendment and free speech? Free speech is the foundation of an open and liberal democracy... Only in America can a first generation Indian-American Muslim kid get on this stage and make fun of the President. The orange man behind the Muslim ban. And it's a sign to the rest of the world, it's this amazing tradition that shows the entire world that even the president is not beyond the reach of the first amendment.
"But the president didn't show up. Because Donald Trump doesn't care about free speech. The man who tweets everything that enters his head refuses to acknowledge the amendment that allows him to do it. Think about it."

(11,885 posts)And she needs her own show opposite rossanne's. You know it was good because of their fake outrage. Ms. Wolf needs a show now displaying her political opinions like others are now doing to the Democrats.
