Nervous Republicans to Congress: Do something

Source: Axios

Caitlin Owens 4 hours ago

Some Republicans, antsy about the energy on the left heading into midterms, say Congress needs to pass more conservative legislation this year to bolster the case for why voters should keep the GOP in office.

The catch: They can't agree what it should be. Maybe conservative priorities like regulatory reform or spending cuts, maybe something pragmatic like infrastructure reform. If they can't figure it out, conservative voters could get disenchanted and stay home in November — costing Republicans the House and maybe even the Senate.

“We need some more wins, first of all because that’s the right thing to do, second of all, because it’s politically expedient to our base to turn out in the fall, to make sure they see us being active and following through on this stuff.”

— Republican Study Committee Chairman Mark Walker

What they're saying: Republicans know it’s not going to be an easy year for them, and some want more accomplishments to talk about.

the big win for the pukes this term. Unfortunately for them they got more greedy than usual and even dimwitted republican voters were able to do the simple math that shows they aren't getting anything out of it.

At least when Reagan and Shrub passed tax packages there were scraps for the hoi polloi, this time the rich got it all and everyone else got fucked.

They COULD do whatever they want now, but they don't. It's almost as though the abortion issue is not really important to them, they just want to beat up Democrats about it to win elections.

And voters got more and more tired of it, eventually even the base figured out that they'd be massively screwed if the pukes succeeded. So they had to move on to the next scam. Billionaire tax cuts. Great idea that was!

They don't want to replace ObamaCare. They don't believe in health care provided by the government. That's why they want to destroy Medicare and Medicaid too. I will never understand why folks that rely on these programs vote for the repubs who want to destroy them.

if they dont realize its their “conservative policies” and dismantling of regulations that protect voters (and our planet), and an authoritarian president intent on breaking down our democracy that are driving people to the left. So keep trying for those wins, and push even more people to our side.

And did Paul Ryan ever think that dismantling social security and medicare would be a win?? The whole GOP have a massive brain chip missing if they think appeasing donors is more important than voters.

And trump has and is conspiring with Russia and Putin, and Ryan and McConnell may also be working for Putin and trump. More exposing them coming out almost daily showing their criminal activity won't be going away, and the American people are fed up with trump and the republicans in Congress for what they've done, and what they are refusing to do. Its too late for them now as the elections are fast approaching in Nov. . Both the House and Senate WILL flip over to the Democrats, and they can't stop it with trump and others talking and tweeting every day. The wave is still getting a lot higher for them all in their party.
