Sensata workers head to Republican National Convention

FREEPORT — Workers at Freeport’s Sensata Technologies plant, which will close at the end of the year, will travel to the Republican National Convention in Florida to make a long-shot plea for Mitt Romney to visit Freeport.

Sensata is owned by Bain Capital and workers at the plant and the Freeport City Council have called on Romney, former head of Bain Capital, to intervene and save the jobs.

“Since Gov. Romney hasn’t responded, we are taking our campaign directly to him,” organizers said in a statement.
