USADA to ban Armstrong for life

Source: MSN Fox Sports

U.S. Anti-Doping Agency chief executive Travis Tygart says the agency will ban Lance Armstrong from cycling for life and strip him of his seven Tour de France titles for doping.

Armstrong on Thursday night dropped any further challenges to USADA's allegations that he took performance-enhancing drugs to win cycling's premier event from 1999-2005.

Armstrong says USADA doesn't have the authority to vacate his Tour titles. However, Tygart told The Associated Press that USADA can do it.

Tygart called the Armstrong case a ''heartbreaking'' example of a win-at-all costs approach to sports.

2. I will bet Sheryl Crow is ...well... crowing a bit. Didn't he dump her?

It took some time, but she should send him flowers and a thank you note!

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-1179901/Lance-Armstrong-I-dumped-Sheryl-Crow-wanted-babies.html

Lance Armstrong says he dumped his fiancee Sheryl Crow because they were ‘up against her biological clock’ and he was not ready to have more children.
The Tour de France legend abruptly informed the beautiful rocker in 2006 that he was ending their three-year relationship.
In his first interview about the split, Armstrong, 37, complains that the Grammy Award-winning singer, who is nine years his senior, nagged him to set a wedding date and start a family.

6. I'm curious. What was the evidence that Lance Armstrong cheated again?
Fri Aug 24, 2012, 12:37 AM
Aug 2012

Because I've never seen any. Not one jot of evidence that supports his cheating. Any drunken bum can accuse anyone of whatever they wish, and it's enshrined in American law that you're innocent until proven guilty...unless you're Lance Armstrong, apparently. For you to instantly assume he's cheating because someone who DEFINITELY was cheating has accused him of it, when all the physical evidence supports Armstrong's innocence, is irresponsible. How would it be if I was to say "LynneSin shouldn't be listened to because of her well known past as car thief", and everyone piled on and said "Yes, she is a criminal", when there's NO evidence beyond my preposterous hearsay?

That's what Armstrong is living with, and you're making it worse.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/08/23/lance-armstrong-usada-doping-charges_n_1826606.html

The 40-year-old Armstrong walked away from the sport in 2011 without being charged following a two-year federal criminal investigation into many of the same accusations he faces from USADA. The federal probe was closed in February, but USADA announced in June it had evidence Armstrong used banned substances and methods – and encouraged their use by teammates. The agency also said it had blood tests from 2009 and 2010 that were "fully consistent" with blood doping.

Included in USADA's evidence were emails written by Armstrong's former U.S. Postal Service teammate Floyd Landis, who was stripped of his 2006 Tour de France title after a positive drug test. Landis' emails to a USA Cycling official detailed allegations of a complex doping program on the team.

USADA also said it had 10 former Armstrong teammates ready to testify against him. Other than suggesting they include Landis and Tyler Hamilton, both of whom have admitted to doping offenses, the agency has refused to say who they are or specifically what they would say.

9. Why is it then
Fri Aug 24, 2012, 02:46 AM
Aug 2012

that the USADA is the only one who can come up with this evidence, using samples that per the regulations should have been long destroyed and there is no chain of custody records to prove they were not contaminated?

It also seems that those willing to come forward and testify were caught cheating and offered immunity or reduced sanctions for their backing the USADA.

I can understand why Armstrong would not want to go into arbitration. USADA would set the rules, and has felt free to ignore their own rules in the past, have their own evidence reviewed by their own arbitrator... The Salem witches had a better chance than Armstrong would... at least if they confessed they might be allowed to go free.

The US court felt it did not have jurisdiction but it commented upon dismissing the case:

"USADA's conduct raises serious questions about whether its real interest in charging Armstrong is to combat doping, or if it is acting according to less noble motives," such as politics or publicity, U.S. District Judge Sam Sparks wrote.

Also the USADA saying it is stripping his titles has as much weight as if I strip Michael Phelps of all his Olympic medals. UCI is the governing body of professional cycling and I believe they would want to see the USADA evidence before making such a drastic move.

PS I am not An Armstrong fan. I believe he is cocky and An ass. I do believe that pre-cancer he was An underachiever and that his brush with death pushed him to his full potential.

10. So did all his teammates who have come clean after - and accused him of doping too.

It's obvious he did it. Even his closest competitors, like Jan Ullrich has admitted he was doped. And Armstrong still destroyed him in the mountains on every Tour de France.

11. In 2004 -while wearing the yellow jersey, Armstrong chased down Simeoni, a rider who was no threat
Fri Aug 24, 2012, 07:02 AM
Aug 2012

And upon catching him, Armstrong made the childish "zip your lips" motion (caught on camera) then forced him back into the pack, where Armstrongs teamates mocked and harassed him.
What was Simeoni's great offense? Simeoni, who was absolutely zero threat on the overall race, had been compelled to testify against Armstrongs doctor Ferrari by the Italian police about how the good doctor showed him how to dope with epo.
Armstrong was outraged since his own connections with Ferrari were well known.

If there are some untraceable drugs out there that are making Armstrong a superman, why is my Dr. not prescribing them for me. It is not like I want to ride in the Tour 'd France, I just want to walk down the sidewalk.

Suddenly becoming Superman right off of surviving cancer should have been a clue (of course that was BEFORE Barry Bonds made everyone jaded), but we all just wanted to believe in it because it fit the Self-Help mentality the PTB push in books like Chicken Soup For The Soul and The Secret, the notion that willpower can do everything. Of course it can, if you are using EPO.
