Police have shot a man who launched a knife attack in Paris dead after he killed at least one person and injured four others.
A witness told The Independent the assailant was shouting "Allahu akbar" and trying to get into restaurants as diners barricaded the doors.
"First one we thought it was two guys fighting," said Fiona, who was having dinner in Kintaro restaurant and did not want her second name published.
"People that were queuing outside ran into the restaurant screaming, so everyone panicked and threw themselves on the floor."

(37,648 posts)There he is, walking down the street. Maybe it's a nice day. He's in Paris! Many people would love to be there. He could stop and get some ice cream or a French dish. Instead he tries to kill innocent people, turning the nice day into a horror. I can't relate to that. Why would anyone choose that over having a pleasant day? Hurting people is something you do, an activity in your off time? There's nothing to be gained by it.
I can't relate to that.

(22,651 posts)most of them don't carry out their "thoughts", but it's really easy to 'push some people' over the edge & a few will act out & kill people.
If that man had the easy gun availability like America, practiced like a ninja warrior with a sword or access to a truck... his final "action" would have been even worse.
At that point Religious Fanatics don't care if they die. Religion gone crazy-made those planes crash into buildings on 9/11.

The attacker killed a 29-year-old man and wounded four other people in the busy Opéra district before being shot dead by police.
The Islamic State (IS) group said it was behind the attack.

(22,651 posts)globally. Some are high tech. trained terrorists like the 3 bombers in Turkey airport (all had Russian passports)
and many are 'normal people' who want a better life-mixed in the millions of refugees who Russia (and russias ally Assad) won't take back. Those type of people would be easy (for professional democracy busters) to target- get upset with some emails directed at them.
That's my opinion
