(206,072 posts)His brother Billy was only 51. Because of that, the former president is examined and tested frequently. He discusses that in his autobiography.

I like McCain's remark. Quite nice and very classy.

My father was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in January of 2000. His first comment was, "so much for clean living." He, too was operated on at Johns Hopkins, but it was too late. He lasted until November 27th, something no one thought he would do. He was just completely determined to celebrate his 50th wedding anniversary, which he barely did.
It is one of the most evil forms of cancer, since by the time it is diagnosed, it is usually too late to do anything about it.

(34,120 posts)my father died of pancreatic cancer. We knew he was sick for 2 weeks, only 14 days from the pain and jaundice to death. My brothers and I were all under 20, it was a blow. BAD stuff.

(14,961 posts)This heinous disease. This was 6 years ago, I miss him every second of everyday. I've known a few others that have passed away from this terrible cancer, they all died within 2 months of diagnosis.

(34,120 posts)6 years was not long ago, it is really still fresh pain for you. It is a horrible disease. I was very ill 3 years ago, GI issues and they could not figure out what was wrong. I was petrified it was pancreatic cancer, the pain was horrible. It took them 2 months to agree to look at my pancreas. Thankfully what I had was bad but nothing even close to that. Whew, it was scary.
I am so sorry about your dad.
