MEXICO CITY Two U.S. government employees were shot and wounded in an attack on their vehicle south of Mexico City on Friday, a law enforcement official said.
The two were riding in an armored U.S. Embassy vehicle when they came under fire on a highway leading to the city of Cuernavaca.

(53,410 posts)Strangely enough just seeing the name Cuernavaca makes my homesick all over again. As for the US officials getting shot, well many millions of people of all nationalities have traveled that highway for generations. It's strange to think of that highway as being in any way dangerous, except for it's hairpin turns.

A Mexican army official said the sport utility vehicle with diplomatic plates was found after a report about a shootout on the highway. The army official was not authorized to be quoted by name. He said a Mexican navy captain was also in the vehicle, but was not injured.
The Toyota SUV was riddled with bullets, most concentrated around the passenger-side window, indicating possible involvement by experienced gunmen.
Attacks on diplomatic personnel are extremely rare in Mexico.

(Reuters) - Two U.S. Embassy employees were shot at and wounded by Mexican police on Friday after they were caught up in a police chase on the outskirts of the capital, Mexico's Navy said.
Police fired on vehicle in which the embassy employees were traveling, which carried diplomatic plates, after the driver veered out of the way when he saw the officers' weapons.
"At that moment those in the ... (police) vehicle opened fire on the diplomatic vehicle," the Navy said in a statement. "Moments later, three other vehicles joined the chase and fired shots at the U.S. Embassy vehicle."
Two employees were taken to a hospital for treatment, and their injuries were not life-threatening, it said. The U.S. government said the two employees were in stable condition.

(962 posts)Really this could anyway. The mexican police who did the shooting could have been corrupt or the Americans could have been corrupted. Ohh oh oh or all parties were corrupt and the whole thing went to shit. Or maybe this story is all BS meant to distract us from the alien invasion (wishful thinking on my part)
