GOP committee rejects Maine delegates; LePage won’t attend national convention

Source: BDN

Gov. Paul LePage will not attend the Republican National Convention next week after a GOP committee Friday overwhelmingly rejected Maine’s delegates to the convention in Tampa, Fla. The ousted delegates supported Texas Rep. Ron Paul, who long ago gave up his presidential bid but who had enthusiastic followers in Maine and several other states.

Most of Maine delegates chosen at the state convention were Paul supporters. The RNC instead has chosen a slate of delegates split between the libertarian congressman and Mitt Romney.

Mark Willis, one of the Ron Paul delegates elected at the state convention, said Friday that the RNC credentialing committee decided at about noontime to uphold a recommendation released by the larger RNC Committee on Contests on Wednesday.

LePage’s decision not to attend the convention mirrored what he has said in the past he would do if all Maine’s delegates chosen at the state convention were not seated.

This smacks of Nazi Germany. If they didn't get the result they liked, the Nazis just killed them. In this country we are a bit more civilized and we just steamroll over them and deny their existence or the fact they won these delegate positions according to state party policies and procedures.

This underscores the fact that the GOP hates Obama so much they will do anything and I mean anything to prevent his re-election.

From what little I know this guy would have been another loose canon. As Moe used to say, "Every time he thinks he weakens the nation".

to a couple of friends in Gorham. But wish LePage would change his mind and get on the national stage to show off his complete buffoonery.

How can they refuse to seat the delegates chosen by the state?

Do we know--is there anything in the DNC bylaws that would prohibit our own party from doing that kind of crap?

I expect the most divisive, violently contested election we have ever seen.

Obama will win I'm sure, but Romney may still become president.

The rethugs aren't going to take this sitting down.
