Missouri anti-abortion activists have lined up behind Team Hawley in the current U.S. Senate race.
At an invitation-only announcement Wednesday afternoon in Springfield that began with a prayer by a local pastor, top Missouri Right to Life officials endorsed Missouri Attorney General Josh Hawley.
They said their endorsement stands both in Hawley's primary race against GOP rivals that include Austin Petersen, Tony Monetti and Courtland Sykes and in the November general election against incumbent Democratic Sen. Claire McCaskill, should Hawley win the Republican nomination in the Aug. 7 primary.
In a statement read by Susan Klein, Missouri Right to Life executive director, the group's federal political action committee saluted Hawley as a "proven pro-life candidate."
