Romney stars in Obama camp’s ‘The Do-Over’
Source: Yahoo News
Tampa - President Barack Obama's campaign may be tempted to throw everything but the kitchen sink at Mitt Romney before election day, but for now they'll settle for "Sirens, Etch-A-Sketches, Fire, Severely Conservative VP Choices, The Go Back Team, Press Quotes, And Romney Jogging."
Team Obama has released a movie trailer-style digital video mocking Romney over media reports that the former Massachusetts governor plans to use his nominating convention in Tampa this week (Isaac Willing) to overhaul his image and win over skeptical voters. "A GOP Convention Reinvention. Some Material May Be Hilarious and/or Infuriating."
The nearly two-minute digital short includes many favorite Democratic attacks on Romney -- charges that his Bain Capital destroyed jobs, "corporations are people, my friend" "I stand by what I said whatever it was," and of course the Etch-a-Sketch. And, yes, footage of Romney jogging.

In a statement accompanying the video, the Obama campaign said it is "presenting Americans with an epic cinematic preview of Mitt Romney's 'convention re-invention' - the Do-Over moment that voters have grown to expect - because they've seen this movie before."
The elaborately produced video states that "Mitt Romney faces unfavorability ratings through the roof" and despite hiring "Hollywood producers and Madison Avenue mad men to reinvent himself ... nothing is working.
Mimicking a movie trailer's listing of movie reviews, the video's narrator says, "Critics have called his previous run 'mildly misleading,' 'four Pinocchios,' 'pants on fire.'"
The ad ends with the imaginary movie's rating: "Rated 'N' for 'Not gonna work."

(1,979 posts)Now watch - the Rmoney group will come out with an ad that will look just like this. Anyone notice? They have such little creativity (and so little to work with) that they just take what the smart Democrats put out and copy it back with their lies.
This might also be a "nod" to the new movie that the billionaireGOPs just put out...
Shine on,

(15,388 posts)I think it's going to be something like Romney Hood vs. Obamaloney. The commercial will not be about a movie but a Broadway musical, and interspersed between shots of an Obama character on stage singing songs about his "failed" policies or what he wants to do to the country to tunes of famous Broadyway hits, there will be shots of rich white people in tuxedos and dresses on the streets of NYC at night giving their reviews.
The Obama character might even change costume from scene to scene - be a Cat in one, the Phantom of the Opera in another, etc. That will show him!

So far, they aren't even good a recycling their own stuff.... most of Rmoney's ads reek of "Bullshit... it's what's for dinner."

(13,297 posts)Can't imagine how fun it would be do do that one - with Ryan added to the ticket it sure gives a lot of fodder to the endless number of broke facts in their campaign.
In fact this movie-theme ad could be an interesting way to cut through the movie clutter as folks tend to slow down for movie previews and are much more open to them - we've been trained to sit through them on the way to the movie starting.

(49,030 posts)It's superb. The pacing is great, the premise or framework (movie trailer) is wonderful. It doesn't have a bunch of hokey rapid cut black & white shots like a machine gun with a sledge hammer soundtrack and an angry announcer. The voiceover is deep, but sounds a little friendly and ever so slightly tongue in cheek, in keeping with the premise. Makes memorable points.
Well Done, Team Obama!

(424 posts)Now in additiion to defining Mitt, if the Obama team could come with a short film that reminds viters how the economy started to shed thousands of jobs as Bush was geting ready to leave, and how Obamas stimulus reversed that and saved the country from Republican created economic disaster, and how Obama has several econimic reciovery plans that Republicans in congress have kept blocking just to make Obama a one termer, voters will have a bigger reason to vote for Obama and a Democratic congress.
