Trump economic adviser: Trudeau 'stabbed us in the back'
Source: The Hill

White House economic adviser Larry Kudlow on Sunday tore into Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau for double crossing President Trump with critical comments about U.S. trade policy.
He was polarizing. He really kind of stabbed us in the back, Kudlow said in strikingly critical remarks during an appearance on CNNs State of the Union.
He did a great disservice to the whole G7, he added.

Kudlow specifically took issue with Trudeau's comments at a post-summit press conference given Trump's summit on Tuesday with North Korea leader Kim Jong Un, and repeatedly called the Canadian's actions a "betrayal."

Edited to add... I knew I'd seen "stabbed in the back" (Wikipedia) somewhere before. It was Hitler's explanation for why Germany lost WWI.

(1,667 posts)And doubly so with lying, narcissistic egomaniacs like Trump.
Ones like him will never acknowledge the negative consequences of their own behaviors and actions, because to do so would be admitting they're wrong...and his identity depends on convincing himself he's never wrong and everyone else is to blame.
Reminds me of my alcoholic relatives.

Oh, and the reference to alchololics is spot on, though I would just say addicts in general. Addicts always seem to exhibit signs of narcissism and always tend to project their own insecurities and failings onto others.

(1,667 posts)A meth addicted sister that wreaks havoc everywhere she goes dragging folks down with her...then moves on leaving others to clean up the mess she's made in their lives.
An alcoholic abusive step-father that 'quit' drinking (not really. he just takes advantage more of holiday stuff with wine, etc.) changed nothing in the behaviour that was actually causing the problems. That's 'your' problem if you have a problem with his daily childish crap, not his. He's 'better' now and why do you have to bring up the past?
Both mother and step-father tend to hit the painkillers and anti-depressants hard, and isolate themselves from consequences by not associating with anyone outside the home. Frees them from the criticism they'd rightly receive pulling their shit on everyone else.
Yes, there's some HUGE similarities in alcoholic/addicts and narcissists like Trump. It's why I have a general disliking for conservatives in general seeing as they share a lot of the traits I've described, irresponsibility being a HUGE one.
Also, needless to say I haven't seen or spoken with the family for years now, and that's the way I want to keep it. It's toxic behaviour.

(1,336 posts)Dairy producers in the US have been producing much more milk than they can sell -- either inside the US or outside. Canada once had the same problem, so a supply management system was put in place. A quota system is used and any farmer wishing to expand his/her production had to buy quota, but only if the need for more supply was required. Similarly, if a farmer decided to retire, sell the farm, go out of the milk production business, he/she could sell their quota to someone wishing to expand.
This was all put in place to ensure that Canadians had a safe access to high-quality milk and products --- no antibiotics, no bovine growth hormones allowed (unlike the US). US-produced diary products are still sold in Canada -- up to a point where the 270% tariff is imposed.
So, considering that US diary producers refuse to lower their production to suit their internal market, and considering that the US consumer population is 10 times what it is in Canada, should Canadians really even entertain the idea of reducing that tariff, as Trump suggests/demands? This Canuck says "Hell no"!

(3,259 posts)When I went through it five years ago, my wife and I had to provide a ton of information. I had to do the full background check, fingerprinting, the works. We had to provide photos, receipts for travel back and forth to see each other, gift receipts for birthdays and holidays, phone call records, chat transcripts... on and on it went. I guess they wanted to make sure we had a legit relationship.
All totally worth it, though. I love living in Canada (except for the humidity in the summer) and I'm especially happy to be here since Dolt 45 is running the show back home. It's nice living in a country that takes care of its citizens. Also nice that it's run by adults instead of a pouting man-child.
