It's not just for doctors, there's lots of resources for mental health practitioners, and other health care providers.

This never-ending attack on every gain we've had over the centuries is stunning. But this galvanized me to draft a letter to my members of Congress.

I thought I'd share my letter in case anyone else is interested in writing their own letter.

The administration’s proposal to eliminate the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality’s National Guidelines Clearinghouse (NGC) is incredibly ill-advised. It cannibalizes one of the most important elements that ensures our medical care keeps making strides forward by zeroing out its funding.

The NGC is the place that collects all the detailed recommendations issued by physician societies, government agencies, and others, for everything from who should receive cardiac stents to which antibiotics patients should get to avoid infections after knee surgery. NGC also takes the time to summarize the more than 4,000 guidelines it maintains, an indispensible service for the physicians who come to the site seeking information.

These documents are essential for the provision of evidence-based care, as opposed to seat-of-the-pants treatment that might be expedient or lucrative for doctors but less than ideal for patients.

My personal doctor relies on the NGC to stay up on research and best treatment practices. I have been very impressed by her knowledge of the latest research, which she applies in treating any ailments I may have. By doing that, she helps reduce the spread of communicable diseases as well as preventing misdiagnoses that might lead to a spiral of care to more frequent or more expensive options. Neither she nor the practice of which she is a part can afford the cost of subscribing to the same information currently provided for free to America’s medical community.

I am convinced that cutting the funding from the NGC is going to cause medical costs to spiral out of control as ineffective treatments will be tried first, and when those don’t work another treatment that may or may not be effective iwill have to be tried. This will lower the quality of care for all Americans, is highly likely to increase the need for more expensive interventions such as hospitalization, and is likely to cost the government and communities more as the ability to contain and eradicate communicable diseases is degraded.

I urge you to work to ensure that funding remains intact and that the administration is brought up to speed on why it is most cost-effective to continue the NGC.

The GOP will try to eliminate any government program that benefits the public and turn it over to for-profit corporations that are not accountable to the public.

This is the type of cut that will cost us out-of-pocket, either in higher insurance premiums or higher co-pays. Republicans know they can get away with these small incremental cost increases because the public will not know where their royal screwing is coming from.

We will just notice less and less money in the bank each payday or after our SS check arrives and the bills are paid. Under tRump, I feel inflation will eat us alive and then around the year 2020, they say the cows will start coming home with federal tax increases.

So much winning for the plutocrats, I can hardly stand it.....
