House Republicans Reportedly Boo Trump After He Mockingly Congratulates Rep. Sanford on Running ‘A Great Race’

by Tamar Auber | 6:40 pm, June 19th, 2018

President Donald Trump reportedly mocked Rep. Mark Sanford during a meeting with Republicans on Capitol Hill on immigration Tuesday night prompting boos from members of his own party.

“Is Mark Sanford here? I just want to congratulate him on running a great race,” Trump reportedly said, according to POLITICO’s Jake Sherman, one of the reporters to tweet out the comment.

He also called the Congressman “nasty” a remark that prompted at least a few boos. Sanford was in the room at the time, according to reports.

Other reporters also noted the comments in tweets as well.

I hope this separating children from parents on the borders is the tripping point of taking him down. Outside of the echo box of faux there is a lot of real reporting going on in the mainstream news and they are actually using the word lie when they refer to him.

But I am noticing the increased use of the phrase, "falsely claim" which amounts to the same thing when it comes to the otherwise-compliant MSM.

MSNBC just cut away from the liar-in-chief [View all]

Andrea Mitchell said, "He's lying again," and then continued to cover the disaster at the border. We need more of this in the media. "He's lying. Here's what's really going on."

on MSNBC. All the anchors have been doing it. Before it was mostly Nicolle Wallace and O'Donnell consistently doing it, but now it's everyone. It was like they all just had enough, flipped out and collectively decided to call lies, lies.

There are "educated" words or euphamisms to use. You're more apt to hear someone SAY it on tv than WRITE it. It's just not very professional, unless you use the word for some effect.

For professional reporters and writers, the alternates are equally strong & accurate.

"Here's what he said in his speech: jfjlfja;dja;j.
Here's the reality: fj;dja;fjkjf;aj."

The fact that a reporter even WRITES a story to point out truth vs. fiction is making the point. Juxtaposing what Trump said with "the reality" means he was lying.

Talk show hosts are different. I would think we'd see more of them use the word "lie," since they're having more casual verbal discussions. Chris Matthews has, other on MSNBC. I don't watch NBC or CBS, so I don't know about them. I don't get CNN.

Placing the facts before the lie better informs the reader, like this:

Here's the reality: fj;dja;fjkjf;aj."
Here's what he said in his speech: jfjlfja;dja;j.

Both have called Trump out and used the word "lie" in doing so during their segments. Don Lemon went on at length, even.

I don't recall which lie or lies in particular they were pointing out. There are so many lies from Trump that it's difficult to keep track of individual falsehoods.

If Trump mocks Sanford, and then GOPers boo, how do we know if they are booing Trump for mocking Sanford, or booing Sanford in-line with Trump's mockery?

Why give them the benefit of the doubt that they were standing up to Trump when all of their other behavior is in league with Trump?

than to wait for the blue wave to hit and he be impeached after the midterms.

It might actually be better for the Repubs to go ahead and impeach him. Especially if Trump is them charged criminally after being removed from office.

Also they are assured of a Repub president if Pence goes too. After January, the Speaker may well be a Democrat, unless they replace Pence with someone not involved with Russian $. It is how we go Ford or course.
