Disney raises its bid for Foxs entertainment businesses to $71.3 billion, days after Comcast made a competing offer for the company

The deal, one of the largest in entertainment history, would enhance Disneys position as a powerhouse in the industry. The transaction would include Fox film and TV studios, some cable networks and international assets, but not Fox News Channel or the Fox television network.
Fox said it plans to move forward with this deal, subject to board approval.

(6,406 posts)They would recoup some of the outlay and won't be beholden to to a portfolio that doesn't fit them. I could easily see them sell the Simpsons for the Theme Park rights plus cash to Universal. That would cement Universal's control on the asset without worrying they have to cut yet another royalties check to Disney and off load an asset they don't know what to do with now.
