Intel CEO resigns over past consensual relationship with an employee that violated company rules

Intel's chief executive Brian Krzanich resigned after an investigation found that he had violated the company's non-fraternization rules that apply "to all managers, the company said in a statement Thursday.
Intels chief financial officer, Robert Swan, will be the interim chief executive. The company said it is beginning a search for a permanent chief executive.

(45,508 posts)because even if it's consensual, there is a power balance and influence over a person's career progression. A happy relationship can always turn south later and get vindictive.

Corporate rules are trumping biological and emotional attraction between adults who agree to encounter one another. Which party to such an affair is going to say, "Ok, we can boogie, but I'll have to quit my job here first"? The system is not working as intended is what I'm saying.

(9,894 posts)or any other rules will never trump biological and emotional attraction. Mankind has been trying to put a lid on various pairings that specific cultures have deemed "wrong" since the beginning of time. Right down to punishing by death. Hasn't worked...never will.

(5,487 posts)Back then it was common knowledge he was in a relationship with another employee. That's when he was a shift manager at Fab12. He eventually married that individual while rising through the ranks to become CEO.
It now makes even more sense that it was no coincidence when he dumped $20M worth of stock options last year. He had prior knowledge of the chip flaw (allegedly) and probably had an inkling of this pending investigation (allegedly)
