Exclusive: Navy Document Shows Plan to Erect 'Austere' Detention Camps

Source: TIME Magazine

By PHILIP ELLIOTT and W.J. HENNIGAN 2:31 PM EDT

The U.S. Navy is preparing plans to construct sprawling detention centers for tens of thousands of immigrants on remote bases in California, Alabama and Arizona, escalating the military’s task in implementing President Donald Trump’s “zero tolerance” policy for people caught crossing the Southern border, according to a copy of a draft memo obtained by TIME.

The internal document, drafted for the Navy Secretary’s approval, signals how the military is anticipating its role in Trump’s immigration crackdown. The planning document indicates a potential growing military responsibility in an administration caught flat-footed in having to house waves of migrants awaiting civilian criminal proceedings.

The Navy memo outlines plans to build “temporary and austere” tent cities to house 25,000 migrants at abandoned airfields just outside the Florida panhandle near Mobile, Alabama, at Navy Outlying Field Wolf in Orange Beach, Alabama, and nearby Navy Outlying Field Silverhill.

The memo also proposes a camp for as many as 47,000 people at former Naval Weapons Station Concord, near San Francisco; and another facility that could house as many as 47,000 people at Camp Pendleton, the Marines’ largest training facility located along the Southern California coast. The planning memo proposes further study of housing an undetermined number of migrants at the Marine Corps Air Station near Yuma, Arizona.

According to these plans, I'm counting a potential 200K+ people in detention at these places. And they'll probably call it a "jobs" program for sociopaths, incels, and other deplorables that most employers don't want to hire for any length of time.

They came from Finland somewhere around 1900. My great-grandmother still spoke Sami and Swedish more fluently than she did English in the 1960's when I last saw her.

Many of my Latino neighbors still have accents and speak fluent Mexican dialects, even when they and their parents, grandparents and great-grandparents were born in the U.S. They do so because half of their extended familia is still across the border:

They and their families have lived in the region for centuries. They never crossed the border, the border crossed them...

Whatever else can be said about Alex Jones, he's got a great voice and is a talented narrator (or was, before the cocaine baked him out of his skull).

He should have stuck to the theater, instead of becoming a fascist carnival barker. He would've probably been a success, and would have left something positive behind instead.

Sad, as Trump would say.

to The Hague. If there was an actual war, they'd be war criminals.
And even without a war, they are still war criminals (by definition).

47,000 people in just one location!! It's clear they intend to imprison
more than just immigrants. Many more.

The military, all branches of it, are being complicit by carrying out the whims of the man-child, and this is very dangerous, citizens cannot fight the military, they have too much power, that is how Hugo Chavez and other dictators were able to solidify their power and make a mess of the countries where they ruled.

I warned a while back about the changes in the constitution, now the administration is trying to change government, and the constitution will be next, they are paving the way for "infinite reelections", and ok if you don't believe it, but that will come next.

They will be cheating in November, I don't know what the democrats are doing to prepare for it and avoid the cheating, but God forbid they remain the majority, it will be very difficult to rewind all the crap they have already accomplished. Also, wait for medical exchange programs where Russians start sending "doctors" or other "technical" labour to the USA...I wish there was a way to wake up the deplorable because they will suffer as well, they will only understand they have been used as pawns when it is too late.

We, the American taxpayer, are paying for this! We will have our medicare and social security cut, social programs cut, health care cut, environmental safegards cut, relationships with our longtime allies, cut, and the list goes on and on. Don't know about you, but I object to my tax dollar being used for these draconian practices by the Republicans. Just give tRump a chance. Well, we did and this is what we got for doing that. Time to take back our country, in fact it is long past time.

Fri Jun 22, 2018, 08:11 PM
Jun 2018

I'd like to think these things, because I believe most people are fundamentally decent human beings, despite our political differences. I'd like to think these things... but I'm having a harder and harder time convincing myself to believe these things. It's comforting to think that Americans are wiser than this, because within living memory are people who witnessed the horror of camps like the ones our government is building now. But here we are, building them anyway.

This is a very dangerous time for America. The fact that so many of Trump's supporters have turned a blind eye to his lies and manipulations makes it hard to believe that they'd put the brakes on when Trump went Too Far. The fact is that he's gone Too Far already, over and over again, and their only response has been "Yeehaw, faster!" So would they blink at the wholesale slaughter of undocumented immigrants? I... really don't know, anymore.

And once that happens, we're screwed, because the camps are there and waiting for "enemies of the state" which here means "anyone Trump points the mob towards." If they're okay with gassing people, they'll be okay with gassing more people, for different reasons.

This is legit terrifying.

There are a lot of fires there. In 2003 a huge fire almost burned through the govt land to the ocean. They also make their own back fires and controlled burns. The area is huge and right on the ocean, prime real estate.

Howard Dean was just on Ari Melber and they were discussing this issue. He said that Congress must approve all the money needed to pay for building these camps. Is Congress going to do that? Midterms are coming and the fake prez just said he won't sign anything they produce as far as immigration goes.

Railroad cattle cars come to mind. Good money for the 'roads. Maybe even bring back the Iron Horses and power them with coal.
This time cattle cars with windows for air conditioning so the Media and assholes on the Right can tell us things aren't really so bad!
And if that isn't economically worthy, does anyone remenber Bataan? I bet the WH does!

We need pictures and names of all the Trump supporters to be used against them after November 2018 and 2020.

This is what happens when one party decides to go "high" because "we don't want to be like them." When one party is so afraid of the "image" it would get in the Right Wing Owned Press, this is the eventual result.

We need a politicide: the removal of politicians from National, State and Local position through massive voting and/or any legal means.

The time is soon coming when it will be too late to do anything about this POS in office along with his enablers.
