I am working on my capstone project for my machine learning class, and I wanted to do predicting non-voters for presidential elections, but I couldn't find a dataset robust enough. Sure, I can find age, sex, and race, but I need more variables to make the model more meaningful like income, geography, education level, etc.

One thing about the US system that is a weakness is that there is no one leader to go to inbetween elections, to take over the discussion, and define the direction of the party. You have no sustained opportunity for the public to get to know them, and because of that the incumbent President always has the upper hand in being re-elected. (Better the enemy you know....)

But the silver lining in this case is that the GOP and Trump have no one individual to smear and bad-mouth for years running up to 2020. Whomever that is, won't be subject to their conspiracy theories and Russian bots til after that is decided. So he attacks previous leaders instead like Hillary and Obama, which may keep the base in a perpetual state of anger but at least its not directed at our future candidate.

One suspects that O and some Dems are aware of this. The absence of an individual counter adversary is one of the reasons that T is flailing around trying to blame everyone else in sight. Even his own soldiers. But there's no one really there. He's in a war with no one to shot at but himself.
