Texas Democrat's viral video could be trouble for Tea Party Republican in deep red Texas
Source: Yahoo
An Air Force veterans biographical and cinematic campaign ad has gone viral receiving nearly 2 million viewers in just five days and could give the Democrat a chance in the heavily Republican 31st Congressional District of Texas.
The stylishly cinematic ad titled Doors tells the story of how Mary Jennings MJ Hegar of Leander/Cedar Park went from a girl with dreams of flying airplanes to running for Congress. She served as a rescue helicopter pilot on three tours of Afghanistan, where she was shot down and sustained injuries earning a Purple Heart. Upon returning, she successfully lobbied to lift a ban on women in all ground combat jobs but encountered many unresponsive congressmen along the way. Now shes challenging one who she says wouldnt meet with her, tea party Republican John Carter, who hasnt had a difficult race yet in their heavily Republican district.
Apparently, being his constituent and a veteran wasnt enough to get a meeting. I guess I also needed to be a donor, she says in the ad. So now Im running against him, taking on a system that cares more for campaign donors and political parties than protecting our country.
****
A survey from Public Policy Polling in November found that only 35 percent of the districts constituents want him back and 57 percent think its time for someone new, but he still wins 46 to 40 against a generic Democrat only six points. When respondents were asked about a Democratic veteran, that candidate was favored by two points, 46 to 44.

(15,543 posts)because MJ has obvious not got the same kind of degenerate republican "family values" as the KGOP republican subbies who so slavishly adore the Top Turd on the republican shit heap.

When they answer they want someone new, they mean a different white, male Republican.

(16,937 posts)but,
You may want to think long and hard about that.
Remember, they have elected Louie Gohmert and Ted Cruz!

(15,243 posts)Granted Gohmert is about as far out as you can get but my Congressman Lutkemeyer is a typical (R) conservative piece of work.

(2,275 posts)Then you probably think the trillions of dollars spent on ads, product design and the entire array of subtleties that go into the art of consumer seduction is a waste too. Stop going to movies or watching TV if you think it isn't appealing.
Or you could give a little credit to the talent (and bravery) of both the candidate and the motion picture artists who made that ad.
Artists and gutsy Democrats are the lifeblood of this great country. People around the world used to look to this country for civil rights leadership, gutsy films, brilliant car design, etc.
(Unless I'm just not understanding you, and I apologize if so.)

(14,176 posts)She is great and all but lets look at the quality of that commercial. Our side has more talent in the entertainment industry than theirs. Any creative endeavor liberals always outnumber conservatives.
We should be taking advantage of that and making way more of these high value production pieces, especially in close races.
Trump is taking advantage of a population seeped in reality TV addiction. We should take advantage of that same audience appetite. Make pieces so riveting that moderate I's and R's can't even turn away. And also D's are galvanized and eager to vote.
