The woman nicknamed Permit Patty after threatening to call police on a girl selling water has resigned from the California company she founded.

Alison Ettel, a San Francisco cannabis business owner, went viral on Saturday after video emerged of her saying she was calling police on an eight-year-old black girl for “illegally selling water without a permit”. Critics across the globe dubbed her Permit Patty and uncovered her identity, and within hours, local marijuana entrepreneurs who sold Ettel’s products announced they were cutting ties.

By Tuesday, her company, TreatWell Health, had brought on a crisis manager and announced that Ettel was stepping down, “effective immediately”.

“This decision, while not an easy one, is in the best interest of their patients. It is Ms Ettel’s belief that TreatWell, its employees, and patients should not have to suffer because of a situation that occurred in an escalated moment. And she regrets her part and is remorseful,” said the statement, sent by Cynthia Gonzales who told the Guardian she was helping Ettel with PR and crisis management.

A friend of mine reported that middle school kids at a school in NH where he taught liked to get high and then have fist fights out in the parking lot. Everything is more fun after a few tokes!

Doesn't make much sense though. If it was due to noise, then why didn't she say she was calling for a noise complaint?

She's an awful bitter person regardless of her motivation. Even in the best of light, she is a petty mean person who threatened to call the police on a little kid for being a kid OUTSIDE.

I'm with you in not being able to understand the thought process that leads to them doing that.

Some people want to report everyone if they think they're "getting away" with something. My old neighbor would call the cops ALL the time if he saw people riding 4 wheelers on the dead end street I lived on. because they "hadn't paid for a tag". Reported another neighbor for the same thing for driving a car with no tag. The guy was restoring the car & would just test drive it!!

About a week ago, on a very hot day, there were a couple of kids with a pop stand up. I thought to myself, they'll probably get told to shut it down. It's ridiculous. We've had occasion to have to call police for break-ins and they literally take hours to show up because it's not a priority call to them. I just wonder how fast they show up to shut down stands operated by these young entrepreneurs.

Over here we have got rid of racism. Examples... Jeremy Clarkson (whose grandfather I killed btw) repeatedly uses racial epithets, but is, er, definitely not a racist; Boris "Watermelon Man" Johnson uses racist language but is absolutely not a racist. Hurrah! And now this woman "Ettel’s actions were “not motivated by any racist intent”. Of course! Racism is dead! And you're out of your cotton-picking minds ((c) David Bossie - definitely NOT a racist) if you think differently.
