(43,259 posts)and it is not unreasonable to hope for further indictments before say, October 1. If you believe hints dropped recently in tweets by John Schindler, retired IC consultant, some of those may be as surprising and heavyweight as the Rosenberg case of 1950.
If Trump nominates a lightweight it could backfire, or reverberate on both these stolen seats down the road. I say stolen of course because with the rigged election, Trump would not be in the Oval Office.
GWB faced similar circumstances. While I disagree with his nominations, they were qualified if ideological in the extreme. Fed Chairman Bernanke proved a flexible, innovative economist, for example.
Trump choosing someone of substance would be absurd, unless he listens to someone who tells him what to do. He'd nominate Hannity if he could.

(12,591 posts)What he and the other Repugs want is power at all costs. If he were for the rule of law then Obama would have appointed Scalia's replacement, he'd have objected when Scalia and the conservative justices gutted the Voting Rights Act, and he would be standing up against all the efforts at voter suppression.
Yeah, that's going to happen. In the end he will do what gives the Republic Party -- and by extension himself -- the most power.
We've got 49 Democratic Senators -- all we need is two more and we can build around him the wall Trump demands.
