Trump, I'm a very stable genius

Source: The Hill

President Trump called himself a “very stable genius” again on Thursday while discussing his social media habits after the NATO summit in Brussels.

Trump was asked during a press conference if he will take to his Twitter page while boarding Air Force One and send out his own comments after meeting with international leaders.

“No, that’s other people that do that,” Trump said. “I don’t. I’m very consistent.”

“I’m a very stable genius,” the president added.

-snip-

So why are so many mental health professionals—the contributors to The Dangerous Case and the rest of the 60,000+—willing to put their careers on the line? We’ll defer to Bandy:

“We are asking our fellow mental health professionals to get involved in politics not only as citizens, but also, specifically, as professionals and as guardians of special knowledge with which they have been entrusted. How can we be sure that this is permissible? It is all too easy to claim, just as we have done, that an emergency situation requires a departure from our usual practices in the private sphere. How can we judge whether in fact our political involvement is justified?

“We would argue that the key question is whether professionals are engaging in political collusion with state abuses of power, or in resistance to them. If we are asked to cooperate with state programs that violate human rights, then regardless of the purported justification, any involvement can only corrupt, and the only appropriate ethical stance is to refuse participation of any sort. If, on the other hand, we perceive that state power is being abused by an executive who seems to be mentally unstable, then we may certainly speak out, not only as citizens, but also, we would argue, as professionals who are privy to special information and a responsibility to educate the public. For whatever our wisdom and expertise may be worth, surely we are obligated to share it.”

I went to a James Clapper book reading a month or so ago, and a psychologist in the audience, noting that intelligence agencies (both here and abroad) draw psychological portraits of foreign leaders as part of their SOP, asked Clapper how he would describe Trump. Having been on the receiving end of one of Trump's tweet storms that very day, he replied cautiously, but said, "If I were a foreign intelligence agent, I would focus on his unpredictability." (by which he seemed to mean instability as well as unpredictability per se).

Discussion of his mental state, from Jan 2018:http://nymag.com/daily/intelligencer/2018/01/trump-is-mentally-unwell-and-everyone-around-him-knows-it.html

I know one, met him in high school many years ago. He went into medicine and his work in "immunology"....has saved lives. (he is an MD with extra work in research). I meet him occasionally, and he treats everyone with respect and dignity.
.......and doesn't brag about it...ever. Also, he is kind and totally approachable..
