FreedomWorks pledges to spend half a million dollars to elect Jordan as Speaker

Source: The Hill

Conservative advocacy group FreedomWorks on Thursday pledged to spend at least half a million dollars on a campaign to elect Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) as House Speaker.

The group made the announcement shortly after Jordan officially announced his bid for the gavel on Thursday.

"FreedomWorks, along with conservatives across the country today, applaud Rep. Jordan’s announcement that he will run for Speaker," FreedomWorks president Adam Brandon said."Jordan will ensure that House Republicans finally make good on the promises they have made for years on the campaign trail - to balance the budget and hold bureaucratic agencies accountable."

FreedomWorks launched a grassroots campaign to rile up support for Jordan's bid in April, months before his announcement. Over the past few months, Brandon claimed, the FreedomWorks volunteers have "sent more than 75,000 phone calls, tweets, and letters to their representatives" in support of Jordan's run for Speaker.

...doesn't the Speaker of the House usually come from the majority party?

I fully expect that party to the Democratic Party in 2019, the next time there's a Speaker's vote.

in exchange, the the GOP candidate wins, he/she is expected to support Jordan. And yes, the GOP is for sale to the highest bidder.

Whoever lives in his area MUST do this. It works. Make him the most hated and miserable Nazi on Earth. They did it to Fuckubee Sanders, Neilsen, McConnell(twice) and Stephen Miller and it worked. Be ready to go after him, and all the GOP traitors, until their "vacation" is anything but relaxing. Hold them up and make an example of them and what happens when their personal, greedy, harmful agenda hurts the real citizens who are fair, caring, hard working and are getting screwed by them. RESIST! REMOVE! Peace.

WTF "grassroots campaign" are they talking about?

The Speaker position is voted for by Congress members, not by the general public. Unless outside of these "75,000 letters" to reps (i.e., "junk mail" ), I suppose they are talking about "buying" votes from other GOP members, which is bribery.

It's not just the NRA that so conveniently got to stop (maybe erase past records too) revealing their donor records to the IRS.
It's also a huge amount of these ""social welfare" organizations funded by the Koch Bros, the historic architects of this over throw of our democracy in which we are living.
