Trump decries Mueller probe as an 'illegal Scam'

Source: MSN/The Hill

President Trump asserted on Sunday that the special counsel investigation into possible collusion between his presidential campaign and Russia is "illegal" because it was ignited by a "fraudulent" opposition research dossier.

In a tweet, Trump repeated his frequent claim that the probe is a "Witch Hunt," and that special counsel Robert Mueller's team of investigators is made up of a number of political opponents intent on undermining his presidency.

"There is No Collusion!" Trump tweeted. "The Robert Mueller Rigged Witch Hunt, headed now by 17 (increased from 13, including an Obama White House lawyer) Angry Democrats, was started by a fraudulent Dossier, paid for by Crooked Hillary and the DNC. Therefore, the Witch Hunt is an illegal Scam!"

The tweet was his latest attack on what has become one of his most frequent targets. Trump has repeatedly sought to cast the Russia investigation as a free-wheeling expedition to gather dirt on his campaign and associates.

Given the willingness of Trump and Republicans to ignore rule of law, I think it is expecting too much to think that the Mueller investigation will be the undoing of Trump. At the end of the day, Republicans are not going to impeach and remove Trump, and Trump is not going to let anything like elections, the media or courts stop him. It is cute that people think that Trump will or those who support him will would hesitate to use any means necessary to hold onto power or blow it all up if they are about to lose power.

yes you've hit the nail on the head. there may not be elections anytime soon. Or they may be so rigged as to be a sham. We must march forward, and place our trust in ongoing investigations.

From the volume and tenor of tweets today, the mental crisis may be worsening at an accelerating rate. So there is that to consider. Irritation seems to have given way to anger and now seems to be elevating in temperature toward blow-off steam. Keep the pressure on, and keep feet in motion. Trump may have power, he may be a highly experienced conman and deceiver, but he cannot stop others in their tracks, and he cannot stop a country the size of the United States. Power even in its present form is just too widely dispersed and free speech too long established to think otherwise.

I do agree with your statements:
1) "At the end of the day,Republicans are not going to impeach and remove Trump"
2) "Trump would (not) hesitate to use any means necessary to hold onto power.."

However, your statement: "Trump is not going to let anything like elections, the media or courts to stop him" may be premature.
He certainly "is not going to let the media stop him," but the upcoming midterm elections are quite a different thing.
If the Democrats do retake control of both houses of Congress, (something which is quite possible, imo), he may well "be stopped"...or at least "curtailed" in what he can and cannot do.

I realize that without 67 votes, the Senate can't convict him, and it's very unlikely that the Dems will be able to reach that threshold even if they do retake control of the Senate.
A Democratic Congress will greatly limit the damage he can do, and, depending upon what the Mueller probe finally uncovers, who knows what Senate Republicans might want to do?

It all depends on the outcome of the midterm elections.

A united Democratic Party can prevail over GOP vote flipping, voter suppression laws, and even more Russian collusion, and can, indeed, retake control of both houses of Congress.

The DNC, the DCCC, and the DSCC all need to work together, and millions of first time voters as well as millions of millennials need to be registered and be willing to vote Democratic on November 6.

As Democrats, "United We Stand" and "Divided We Fall"

The GOP can only steal elections that are close.
Barack Obama proved this in 2008 AND 2012.

anything negative that he ever speaks about another, is precisely the truth about him. Mueller is a scam = Trump is a scam, the media is fake = he is a fake, Crooked Hillary = he is a fucking crook, the dems are gonna rig the election = his master is gonna rig the election (again). GWB was guilty of the same behavior, but more subtle about at it. It is the way Putin runs his dictatorship. It was Hitler's ploy also.

And his base will suck it up until the day they die.
