Melania's policy director leaves the White House

Source: Politico

The first lady has taken steps to develop her personal portfolio in recent months, including launching her 'Be Best' anti-bullying initiative.

By DANIEL LIPPMAN and ANDREW RESTUCCIA 08/03/2018 03:57 PM EDT Updated 08/03/2018 06:09 PM EDT

After just six months on the job, first lady Melania Trump’s top policy aide has left the White House, according to multiple people familiar with the matter.

Reagan Hedlund, a 28-year-old former executive assistant at the National Security Council who recently helped the first lady launch the “Be Best” anti-bullying initiative, departed last week, leaving already-skeletal East Wing staff even smaller.

Hedlund, who went by Reagan Thompson until she took her husband’s last name after their April wedding, told POLITICO that she plans to work on foreign policy issues. She declined to provide more details.

“I am very grateful to the first lady for the opportunity to help launch her policy initiative,” Hedlund said. “It was a rare opportunity to contribute at such a high level. It was a difficult decision to leave. However I have decided to return to my roots in the foreign policy world.”

A moral middle finger directed at her heartless husband. Why would she go out of her way? To slum her way out of the gilded palace? Unscheduled? Unauthorized? Privately. To Texas. In the middle of a brewing crisis? And wear a jacket like that? To mean something so mean? She's a mother and, whatever her other faults, seems like a good one too. I give her credit for bringing public awareness to a human tragedy about which no one around really cared. Could be wrong but give her the benefit of a doubt.

Translated from Italian: me ne frego. Or is that some BS I read somewhere? I think Melania was happy to be married to Mussolini Jr.

The number of outfit changes she makes is ridiculous. OTOH, -45 would do well to do something about his slovenly appearance when he steps off of Air Force One. His pants always look like he wore them for a week.

And then he wouldn't pay.

Her job was a pathetic joke, and so was she while she remained there. Imaging trying to tell people to "Be Best" with a straight face while Donnie Dotard, the schoolyard bully who inexplicably became president, does exactly the opposite on a daily basis. She probably left to keep herself from doing us all a favor and strangling the bastard.

Maybe the very smart Ivanka can fill the position. Who would want that job, listening to her broken English a couple days a week that she shows up?

Like a cozy couple chatting about the grandkids in bed. They do not sleep in the same room and probably together at all. They do not dine together except on official events. He's got this false personal narrative down cold. Like he believes it. Like Reagan did when he was starting to lose his marbles. Just make who he was up.
