NASCAR CEO Reportedly Name-Dropped Trump During Arrest Process for DWI

Source: Law & Crime

by Alberto Luperon | 1:18 pm, August 6th, 2018

NASCAR CEO and Chairman Brian France was charged Sunday night for aggravated driving while intoxicated and criminal possession of a controlled substance. From there, the details get a little … interesting.

France reportedly name-dropped President Donald Trump during the process of the arrest.

irst, here’s the public story, as told by the Sag Harbor Village Police Department statement obtained by ESPN. France was seen driving a 2017 Lexus northbound on Main Street, and failed to stop at a stop sign, police said. Officers said a traffic stop followed and they discovered France was intoxicated. They claimed that after arresting him, they discovered oxycodone pills on his person. Cops arrested France at 7:30 p.m., held him overnight, arraigned him morning, and released him on his own recognizance.

. . .

That arrest sounds very straightforward, for all intents and purposes, but TMZ, who first broke the news, had other details. France’s blood alcohol level was over twice the legal limit (0.08 percent in New York State). They cite sources, which claim that France name-dropped some famous names during the arrest process, and brought up his relationship with Trump.

It is probably a state crime. I hope he gets community service picking up trash on the roads. It would make a great photo op.

Yes, I know they have these things now called VCRs.

Probably even more than that.

The Ignition Interlock Program and Leandra's Law
Courts must order all persons convicted of driving while intoxicated or aggravated driving while intoxicated, or of a penal law of which an alcohol related violation of any provision of section 1192 of the Vehicle & Traffic Law is an essential element to install and maintain an ignition interlock on any vehicle owned or operated by such driver for at least 12 months. (This device, purchased and installed at the expense of the motorist, is connected to a motor vehicle ignition system and measures the alcohol content of the breath of the driver. The vehicle cannot be started until the driver provides an acceptable sample breath.) The 12 month requirement may be waived by the court if the defendant demonstrates that the interlock device was installed for at least six months, unless the court orders the interlock device to be installed for a longer period of time. The judge also must order an alcohol assessment for a repeat offender. If the assessment indicates alcohol treatment is necessary, the judge may be required to order the completion of treatment as a condition of probation.

Drivers who commit these alcohol-related offenses with a child under 16 years old in the vehicle may be charged with a class E felony, punishable by up to four years in prison. (This is known as Leandra’s Law.)

The law also makes it a felony to drive drunk with a conditional license, which is a license that may be issued by the DMV when someone is convicted of an alcohol-related offense. Such a license may be used only for driving to and from essential destinations such as school, work and medical appointments. The conditional driver license will be revoked if the motorist does not comply with the court terms or for a conviction for any traffic offense except parking, stopping or standing.

They have so many problems right now. Falling attendance, dropping TV ratings, struggling to find sponsors. Nascar has done so many dumb things, maybe this explains some of that. With one of their team owners rumored to be caught up in the Russian Honeypot scandal this is icing on the cake.

Whereas sports like cricket, rugby, and soccer will increase. Not to mention there is no ladder or affordable path for anyone to become a successful race car driver anymore.

NASCAR has a particular malaise similar to our economy - when the money goes to the top, it all turns to shit! Brian's (IRRC) cousin JR France got busted in a similar jam with coke a few years back. Lesa (France) Kennedy was the torch bearer of the next generation, loved the sport, very active since childhood - but killed in a private plane crash.
