Trump warns Cuomo: Anybody who runs against me 'suffers'

UTICA, N.Y. (AP) ................................................
The challenge came as Trump delivered remarks at a fundraising event for Republican Rep. Claudia Tenney, who is running for re-election. The Utica visit marked Trump's first as president to an area he won in 2016.
Trump, a New York native, spent much of the event attacking his home-state governor as well as Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, who is also thought to have White House ambitions.
Trump said that Cuomo, who is running for re-election against "Sex and the City" star Cynthia Nixon, called him and told him, "I'll never run for president against you."
"But maybe he wants to," Trump went on, adding: "Oh, please do it. Please. Please. He did say that. Maybe he meant it. The one thing we know and they do say anybody that runs against Trump suffers. That's the way it should be."

Utica NY, where Trump is visiting today, is known as "the town that loves refugees." In the past 3 decades Utica has resettled more than 16,000 people from Vietnam, Russia, Bosnia, Somalia, Burma, Pakistan and Iraq. Some 17.6 % of the city is foreign born.

While Trump visits my hometown of Utica, NY its encouraging to see there are more protesters than supporters considering the area is more republican than democrat. #TrumpinUpstate🇺🇸

(33,643 posts)Assuming he's not full of shit about Cuomo saying 'he'd never run against him for President' ... and he actually said that ... Nevertheless, insecure man-child Trump feels compelled to conjure up a total straw-man where he REALLY WANTS TO ... but then Trump would make him suffer if he had the audacity to do so, so that's really why Cuomo is chickening out.
I mean seriously ... WHAT A FUCKING DICK.

(2,172 posts)I don't believe Cuomo called Trump and said he would never run against him. it sounds like a lie to me.

(19,201 posts)What reason would Cuomo have for calling Trump in the first place? A 'welcome to New York' chat, or was it just to let Trump know how scared he is of him? It certainly sounds like a typical Trump lie about himself (his favorite subject).
At $1000 - $15,000 a ticket it's not hard to see who Tenney (as well as Trump) represents in the 22nd Congressional district. The wealthy, always (and exclusively) the wealthy. The rural farm rubes think they're all for them, but it's already been revealed that they're easily manipulated fools.

(18,124 posts)better speak up and add to the list of lies, both gargantuan and minuscule, soon or this can grow in people and their ....subconscious? Hell just put every RW lie down!!!!! Quick. Fight every lie, every whisper, every RW nut job obvious and not so. Fight every racist that opens their yap about anything. GOTV, volunteer. Pound the pavement. Make calls. Do something! Please!!!!!!!!! My signs are in my front yard. The good old boys and girls in my neighbourhood are putting are putting their huge Amerikkkan flags and their black and white racist flags on their off-roads and 4 wheels. And slow down past my house and I'm in my slider waving at them and smiling when sitting out there with my one neighbour with enough balls to sit with me. I'm not going to be intimidated by these shits. They also know....well we'll leave that for future events the closer we get to the election and the more fear these toilet dwellers acquire when they start to know they are outnumbered. Yeah, some of us may fall, but keep moving forward. Just liker those huge blue lines at Gettysburg!!!

(205,393 posts)That first link is actually my local paper. Trump made an appearance in the district today, at the invitation of our Paul Ryan protegee Representative Elise Stefanik, to sign his military spending bill. He can say what he wants about Kirsten Gillibrand - as our former congresswoman, she was very popular here, Stefanik is not. She's up for reelection and I'm hoping Trump's visit hurts her chances. The Democratic primary was June 26th so we now have a nominee and Stefanik didn't even wait till the primary took place before initiating Republican dirty tricks.

(11,885 posts)With abuse of his power will bring more charges , and convictions . He's the most corrupt and treasonous person ever in our government , and anyone for the gop will be a huge problem because he's hated so much, and will expose his polls aren't as good as he claims, along with everything else he claims as true. People are fed up with the liars, like him and many others in the GOP, ted Cruz is another good example now losing supporters right and left knowing he's involved with russia and putin too. Liars and corrupt criminals like these guys have no place in our government, ever.
