UT chancellor, commander who led bin Laden raid tells Trump: 'Revoke my security clearance, too'

Source: Dallas News

Admiral William H. McRaven literally wrote the book on black ops. He led the team that brought down Osama bin Laden and questioned outmoded concepts of sexual assault in the military and at his alma mater in Austin.

Now, he's challenging the leader of the free world. On Thursday, just hours after the news that ex-CIA director and frequent Donald Trump critic John Brennan's security clearance had been revoked, McRaven had a message for the president:

"Revoke my security clearance, too."

In an op-ed for The Washington Post, McRaven praised Brennan as "a man of unparalleled integrity" and maligned the president for what he called Trump's "McCarthy-era tactics" to "suppress the voice of criticism."

They are talking about removing current officials' clearances stripped now too. This has to stop! The fucking moron said he did it to Brennan due to the Mueller probe...that is MORE obstruction. Clearances aren't a reward for being "loyal".

around 4 years ago (UT-Austin). It was an amazing speech. He's quite the man and blew the "doors" off the place (it was outside but you know what I'm saying).

Edited to correct how many years it's been and to post a link to the speech:

I can't help but wonder how long Donny Bonespurs would have lasted in SEAL training.

I think people saying the McRaven op-ed won't matter are missing the intended audience, which is not the general public but a small community of peers grappling with the right path in the present moment. His choice to say this now will matter to them. And courage is contagious.
