Chelsea Clinton responds to tweet depicting National Enquirer covers on mother
Source: The Hill
Former first daughter Chelsea Clinton mocked the National Enquirer's coverage of her mother Hillary Clinton in a tweet Thursday afternoon, joking that she must have "missed" all the health scares the tabloid alleges Hillary Clinton has suffered.
Responding to a Quartz reporter's tweet showing a photo spread of Enquirer covers featuring the former secretary of state, Chelsea Clinton wrote that she was thankful for her mother's enduring health and "grit."
"Id missed the lung cancer cover, the stroke story, the one about my mom @HillaryClintons hitman (possibly my missing alien sibling?!).
The Clinton cover tweet came as David Pecker, the CEO of the company that publishes the National Enquirer, has reportedly been granted immunity as part of the investigation into President Trump's longtime lawyer Michael Cohen.

Remember, 2 years ago, Trump supporters and some Sanders supporters were questioning Hillary's health and stamina. I haven't heard about any health issues from her these past 2 years.
Meanwhile, Donny Dollhands needed a golf cart to keep up with the walking 66 year old Angela Merkel at the G7 meeting last year.

(8,200 posts)Trump's Pecker has turned on him. Such classy friends. They can have a reunion in prison and talk about the good ole days fleecing the ignoramuses. I can just hear Pecker saying, "And they believed that crap."

The Enquirer was a beast of a different name. I bought WWN every week as a kid, but not other tabloids.

(16,846 posts)I used to tape pictures and articles from it on my dorm room walls. There was no internet then, at least not an internet that most people had any familiarity with, so WWN was where I looked for the freaky stories I like. I never cared for the Enquirer. The Enquirer ran bogus stories about real people, and they sometimes hurt people. Nothing funny about that.

Summer Zervos is a better example. She sued Trump for calling her a liar.

Since nothing damaging ever erupted (apart from the consensual tryst with Lewinsky) the gop is still determined to take them down. If only the gop had someone in their ranks with the intelligence, integrity and CLASS of Hillary. Seems they like low class, crude, uncouth imbeciles who are owned by Russia. They got the cream of that rotten crop when they elevated tRump to be their leader. The tRump clan is as corrupt as any mafia family, minus the brains.

(9,012 posts)cover after cover slamming Clinton and praising Trump? It's legal, I guess, but seems like they should be campaign contributions.

(12,022 posts)The monetary value of these front-page headlines makes them worth more than an inside, full-page ad. Since there were at least half a dozen of these front-page stories, the monetary value (established by the Enquirer's own ad rate prices) adds up to at least a quarter million dollars.
That's a violation of the campaign contribution limits.

I am thinking, in particular, of the Monica Lewinski story, that lots of media knew about, and elected not to cover until it was leaked.
Same with John Edward's mistress stories.
It's a slippery slope, and the media, in general, is pretty progressive or at least Democratic Party friendly.
So it would ultimately hurt us more.
