AFL-CIO chief: Trump has done more to hurt workers than help them

Source: The Hill

AFL-CIO chief Richard Trumka said Sunday that President Trump has done more to hurt workers than he has to help them.

“Unfortunately, to date, the things that he has done to hurt workers outpace what he’s done to help workers,” Trumka said on “Fox News Sunday,” referring to Trump. Trumka’s comments, made one day before Labor Day, come after Trump on Friday issued a statement praising labor unions. Trump lauded organized labor for "advocating for the interests of the American worker and wage-earner." But Trumka on Sunday criticized a number of Trump’s policy decisions.

“He hasn’t come up with an infrastructure program that could put a lot of us back to work,” Trumka said. “He overturned a regulation that would deny over 5 million overtime that they would’ve had. He overturned some health and safety regulations that will hurt us on the job.”

“We keep trying to find areas where we can work with him,” he added.

Trump is actually trying to hurt workers. Almost everything he does, negatively affects the average person.

when first suggested Unemployment Insurance was laughable..until FDR was elected Organized Labor would never have happen except for Democrats..And now what really aggravates me is the fact that there are Union Members that will take those higher wages and benefits and then on election day step into the voting booth and vote for the son-of-a-bitch that wants to take that all away. Cant believe that happens except the Republican ideology must be a gene carried thru conception.

That any Labor union should even think about trying to work with these republitard assholes. They are predators on the working men and women of this country. If you like a 40 hr. work week, vacations and a safe work place, thank a union member today.

ole No Shit Sherlock folder. No shit, Dick. And you actually thought otherwise back in 2016?

And no, Trumka, you don't get a pass for such stupid shit and neither does many of your rank and file.

i expect a little more from labor leaders. Trying to work with the current regime is hopeless. It's time for maximum effort.

with this piece of amphibian shit.

The AFL-CIO needs to immediately remove him from his position and put someone in that will fight for Unions!!!

Normally, when you lose 80% of Union membership throughout every Union in the country. When you lose 90% of the collective bargaining rights that people fought and died for, when you make Unions irrelevant when it comes to political influence...you shouldn't still have your fucking job!!

When is the last time any of these cowards called for a strike?

If what's happened over the past 4 decades wasn't enough for Unions to go to the fucking mattresses... what will it fucking take.

People died for these rights. Maybe Trumka and that fucking Hoffa chicken ought to fight!

If Unions are going hat in hand looking for help from Donnie Shit for Brains, we truly are fucked.

What hard choices and sacrifices has Trumka made? Trying to decide which Walmart he's going to fucking shop????

Common ground with Donnie Short Fingers??? WTF-were there no Pinkerton Guards to "work together" with?
