Michael Avenatti announced Sunday that he plans to hold an event countering President Trumps campaign rally for Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) in Texas next month.
Avenatti, the lawyer representing adult-film star Stormy Daniels in her lawsuit against Trump, called on his supporters to fight fire with fire.
I am excited to announce that I will be leading a large resistance rally in Texas at the exact same time of Trumps (details tba), he tweeted. All groups are welcome to join. We must fight fire with fire and we must send a message that we will fight to make America America again.
Trump said Friday that he will hold a major rally for Cruz ahead of midterms, and that he is picking the biggest stadium in Texas we can find.

Go Avenatti! This is the way to fight!!

(43,181 posts)was all about ego at first, then he displayed his sheer seemingly limitless competence, then came the patriotic positions, now he is injecting himself into political rallies, and also at times talking with Trumpers to understand, to sway perhaps .... I think he is far more concerned about the United States than anything else. He knows it could become important for someone with some real fight in them to carry the load at some point. In addition, this man sees a way through this that is faster, sleek, and airtight, even if it is a thread-the-needle pass.
And really, is anyone else dampening Trump's Bluster Rallies, on-the-ground in real time?? No. This could be huge for Beto. In a tight race, every fraction of a percent has the potential to make the difference. We must go after every opportunity.

(19,201 posts)at the second largest arena in Texas? He may have more supporters than Trump. Trump and Cruz are going to spend beaucoup dollars buying enough "seat filers" to make Trump and Cruz look like they're not total losers, which they are anyway.

(13,043 posts)and better. I hope Beto will attend. This way it will draw a YUGGGEEE crowd and create even more momentum amongst supporters going into the Nov elections.

(7,624 posts)This is what happens to presidents who have to hold rallies to prop up their fragile egos. Fake news is already preparing the fake crowd-size estimates for the two events.

(959 posts)as well as anybody ever has. He has observed the orange idiot, noted his many weaknesses, and he pushes every one of Dump's buttons. Instead of falling for Dump's stupid insults and grade school antics, he calmly plays him like a fine violin. Others would be wise to take notice of how to do this. It's effective.

(2,739 posts)Trump's loud-mouthed name calling has been very effective with all the other presidential contenders. Avenatti seems to have a talent for landing true blows on Trump, and a passion for engaging in the righteous fight.
My husband has foreboding about it, and just sees the ego and potential for Trump to use the event to his advantage in Texas to help Cruz. After all, many Trump rallies didn't do the trick for the candidate he supported. But with a high profile foil like Avenatti, who knows?
Texans are no fans of outsiders butting in as a rule, so it is risky. But leaving Trump and Cruz unchallenged is risky too.
