Trump cancels Thursday's rally in Cape Girardeau as Hurricane Florence approaches
Source: St Louis Post Dispatch
President Donald Trump called off his Thursday night campaign rally in Cape Girardeau, citing the hurricane approaching the east coast.
"Regrettably we must cancel," said Michael Glassner with the the Trump campaign. "With Hurricane Florence on its way, we determined that this is the safest decision."
The event had been scheduled for 6 p.m. at the Show Me Center.

(not that he doesn't have his share of persistently ignorant supporters in that part of MO--it is Limbaugh's home town after all, but MO is the "show me state" and I suspect a few are increasingly realizing they've been shown NOTHING)

Not even on the east coast of the Mississippi.

It was interesting that Glassner said that cancelling the rally is the "safest'" decision rather than the correct one. Given that Cape Girardeau is safely far from the East Coast, I think it's safe to say that if they held the rally while the East Coast is under assault by Hurricane Florence the optics would be bad. You just know the news media would run a split screen of Trump holding his rally on one side and the coast (and the poor ever-present weather reporter assigned to cover the event) getting beat to death on the other side. There would be endless comparisons to his reaction to Hurricane Maria's effect on Puerto Rico, and Donnie Two Scoops' tone-death reaction to John McCain's death.
Speaking of which, Trump just held a brief presser with his EPA director to talk about all the preparations that have been made.
He was just asked about Puerto Rico. He lauded himself for the response. Best response ever. Sent a hospital ship (too late, BTW). Puerto Rico is an island. It's all the Puerto Ricans' fault because they're poor and didn't have an electric grid and were in debt and we're having to build them an electric grid that they didn't have. Because they're an island it's hard to get stuff there. Yah-yah-yah.
He said Congress will be generous with emergency money for the hurricane victims "because they have no choice."
Gave himself an A+ on Florida and an A+ on Texas. Did a great job in Puerto Rico, but nobody gives him credit.
On the prediction of 22 inches of rain during Floyd: "Can you imagine what 22 inches of rain is like? Nobody's ever had that." (Right, nobody's ever experienced a 22 inch rainfall in the history of weather recording."
"Unlike Puerto Rico the states have an excess of emergency power available." (He can't let go of Puerto Rico.)
"We've never seen anything like this--at least on the East Coast." What about Hurricane Hugo, Hurricane Floyd or Superstorm Sandy, I thought.
"Bob Woodward's book is just a piece of fiction."
"Canada wants to make a deal very much."
I was waiting for him to mention Puerto Rico one more time, but his aides whisked him out of the room.

your base NEEDS this rally
you will deal a massive blow to deep-state traitors and libtards everywhere if you hold this rally
besides, Pat Robertson has deployed a holy barrier to redirect the hurricane -- your rally will be 100% safe and God Approved
