Cuomo Campaign Shifts Blame for Inflammatory Flier about Cynthia Nixon to 'Constituency Representati

ALBANY Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo and the New York State Democratic Party both acknowledge the existence of a false piece of campaign material that wrongly implied that his primary opponent, Cynthia Nixon, was anti-Semitic. They say it went to 7,000 households, and cost about $11,000. And they both say it was wrong.
Beyond that, there had been few details about who was responsible for the fliers language, delivery and its timing, coming before Rosh Hashana and before Thursdays primary.
As we have said this mailer was a mistake and completely inappropriate, the partys executive director, Geoff Berman, said in a statement on Monday. The party does not discuss internal processes but we take this matter very seriously and are putting rigorous controls in place to ensure it never happens again.
On Tuesday, the Cuomo campaign released a bit more about the mailers origins, identifying the creator only as an individual helping the campaign on constituency outreach.

campaigns as professional as Cuomos dont, in my opinion, make mistakes like this.

(67,782 posts)...his campaign didn't make mistakes like that. It's still unclear who exactly did it and apparently no one from the campaign approved the mailer.
From your article:
Mr. Cuomo, a Democrat seeking a third term, has denied knowing anything about the mailer.
He characterized the mailer as a mistake and inappropriate, and said on Sunday that he had told the state party that they better figure out how this happened and make sure it doesnt happen again.
I'll wait before I condemn Cuomo or his campaign.

The smoking-gun email, sent Friday afternoon from an official andrewcuomo.com account, suggested that The Post publish a story about Nixons support of the pro-Palestinian Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions movement against Israel.
Nixon has supported insidious BDS campaign, signing onto letter boycotting Israel, it says.

I really have to wonder why the campaign felt the need to shore up their conservative Jewish support if they thought the Primary was going well...
