House, Senate leaders strike spending deal, tie Trump's hands on shutdown

Source: Politico

House and Senate spending leaders said Thursday they have struck a deal on a massive package that would fund two-thirds of government, including some of the largest federal agencies — and the bill would also box in President Donald Trump.

Party leaders also crafted the final fiscal 2019 package in a way they believe will be politically impossible for Trump to reject: The two-bill package will also be coupled with a stopgap funding bill to keep the government open through Dec. 7.

If Trump vetoes it, he would force a shutdown — which would include a shuttering of some Pentagon operations.

“Last night, we were able to resolve our remaining differences on this package,” Senate Appropriations Chairman Richard Shelby (R-Ala.) announced today at a meeting of more than a dozen appropriators, referring to the bill.

A government shutdown would include a shuttering of some Pentagon operations? Why would Bone Spurs care one way or the other? He hates the U.S. military and I say U.S. because he's a Russian agent who knows no borders.

Second, congress making a deal is simply kicking the can down the road. Bone Spurs hasn't done squat yet to address the government's ballooning budget deficits. He promised he'd do away with out debt. This is a complete disconnect from what he's said and what he's done.

Whether the Repugs win or lose both or one of the Congressional Houses,
they will attempt Oligarch tax cut 2.0. The next 2 years even with Dems
in control of one or both houses will see a Repug as President. It will be
3 years before Dems can fully begin reversing these disastrous measures.
The oligarchic push to end democratic governance, drown the government
in a bathtub and transfer more wealth to the 1% from the 99% will continue.

6. Using Occam's razor I have established this simple logical manner of thinking as it
Thu Sep 13, 2018, 02:17 PM
Sep 2018

relates to the current state of the US government:

1. trump committed treason in "winning" the White House
2. The GOP either knew about the treason being committed, or participated in it
3. by siding with nazis trump undermines American core values and further causes the destruction of our social, civil ties
4. The GOP is complicit in both the treason that occurred which placed trump illegally in the White House, and the ongoing undermining of core American values leading to the inevitable destruction of American civil society

Therefore: anyone negotiating with the GOP is doing nothing more than enabling treason and the undermining of American society.

My conclusion may not be politically convenient, but it is completely true.

My whole politically conscious life I have seen democrats do nothing but clean up the messes left behind by the right, try to make the decision of the right tolerable, and in the end just get smacked in the mouth for doing so.

When will democrats learn that with the right negotiating is doing nothing but surrendering ground.

It's time the left stop being the whipping boy of the right, stop getting dragged rightward, and start allowing this nation to feel the full effects of the misguided nature of the right. The right DOES NOT HAVE A POINT. IT IS A FAILED IDEOLOGY! Stop treating it like a legitimate power broker.

One that is required by their oath to the constitution. So, both sides are required by oath to keep government functional.

Your point notwithstanding, failing to negotiate something would be an abrogation of their duty.
