Defense of Kavanaugh turns to theory of evil look-alike before collapsing under ridicule

Source: Yahoo News

The defense of Judge Brett Kavanaugh took a soap opera turn this week when allies of the Supreme Court nominee suggested a look-alike had committed the sexual assault of which Kavanaugh has been accused.

Ed Whelan, president of the think tank Ethics & Public Policy Center and former clerk to Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia, spent much of the week hinting that he could disprove Christine Blasey Ford’s accusations that Kavanaugh had drunkenly assaulted her at a party when the two were teenagers.

On Thursday evening, Whelan laid out his theory in a now-deleted Twitter thread that suggested Ford was indeed assaulted — but by another Georgetown Prep student who looked like the teenage Kavanaugh.

On Tuesday evening, the Washington Post published an op-ed from conservative columnist Kathleen Parker headlined “Is there a Kavanaugh doppelganger?” — a sincere piece wondering whether or not Kavanaugh had an evil twin wandering the D.C. suburbs. “Could there have been another, Kavanaughish-looking teen at the house that night, who might have attacked Ford?” wrote Parker.

Less mentioned is the fact Whelan is buddy of Brett and "forgot" to mention that while spewing his Twitter dirahhea...but must have got a real boner with all the folks believing his exciting Twitter- quality "investigation"!

Same old very tight white boy's world in DC, including media, isn't it?

The rest of us still see things very clearly.

Their blurry vision is only a handicap to themselves.

But too many tens of millions will never know again what is real, if they ever even did.

There wasn't just one tweet. There is an entire series, with a map, floor plans, & the name & photo of the man he implicated, a private citizen, of a serious crime. Whelan should be held accountable & hopefully will at the very least get his fucking ass sued off.

... helping to spearhead the nomination". That's important; the connection with Leo is not just happenstance. A tweet from the author of a Politico article, from a few hours before Whelan floated the idea on Twitter:

"But three people who have spoke to Whelan and Federalist Society’s Leonard Leo in recent days say they are “100 percent confident” they’ve obtained information that will exonerate Kavanaugh - https://t.co/C6xlnGXOZL "

This was being previewed as coming from Leo as well. They wanted it taken very seriously.
