President Trump appeared to blame Attorney General Jeff Sessions for the latest controversy surrounding Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein Sunday, saying that Sessions had "hired" Rosenstein to be his second-in-command.
"He was hired by Jeff Sessions," Trump said in an interview with "The Geraldo Show" on WTAM radio. "I was not involved in that process because, you know, they go out and get their own deputies and the people that work in the department."
Trump announced on Jan. 31, 2017 he would nominate Rosenstein to be deputy attorney general. The Senate confirmed him that April...........................

President Trump on Sunday shifted his focus to Attorney General Jeff Sessions when asked about a report that Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein proposed secretly recording the president and recruiting Cabinet officials to invoke the 25th Amendment.
"He was hired by Jeff Sessions," Trump told Geraldo Rivera in an interview with "The Geraldo Show" on WTAM radio, according to Fox News.
"I was not involved in that process because, you know, they go out and get their own deputies and the people that work in the department," Trump added. The full interview is scheduled to air on Monday.
Trump told Rivera that The New York Times report about Rosenstein was a "very sad story," and indicated the administration will "make a determination" about what to do next.
The president's decision to seemingly shift the focus on Sessions marks the latest in a long line of attacks against the attorney general. Trump last week told Hill.TV that it was as if he didn't have an attorney general, and indicating he nominated the former Alabama senator for the position out of loyalty.
Trump has regularly excoriated Sessions for recusing himself from overseeing the investigation into Russian interference, a probe that Rosenstein is now overseeing as a result.

(2,177 posts)I'm not sure he did. Whoever is really running the country is probably the one who told him what name to give and he doesn't even remember, because I truly believe he is not the one making the decisions, except on the WALL and trade. Everything else is being coordinated by others.

(17,960 posts)after Rosenstein met with him, he dropped the idea of releasing documents around the Page investigation like a hot potato. Whatever it was, it apparently scared the shit out of him. Mangofuhrer was all fired up about releasing the docs....and all of a sudden he dropped the whole damn thing. Hmmmm.
