President Donald Trump was laughed at Tuesday during his address to the United Nations General Assembly, after he asserted that his administration has accomplished more than almost any administration in the history of our country.
Didnt expect that reaction, but thats okay, Trump said.

(8,854 posts)...would have done the trick. Applauding as well makes it seem as though they enjoyed the performance. Also, everyone knows how much Trump enjoys cheers and applause. They should have denied him this. The delusional fucker probably took it as some kind of praise.
The stupid part has been with him his whole life.

(8,200 posts)In 1920, the inimitably scathing H.L. Mencken peered into the countrys future and offered this pungent prediction concerning the Presidency: As democracy is perfected, the office represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the people. We move toward a lofty ideal.
On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their hearts desire at last and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron.
Thanks to the Republican Party this has become a reality within our time. How wonderful. We should all rejoice. "Morans" prevailed disputed the odds. Or maybe more correctly, in keeping with the odds since such a large percentage don't even get off their ass to vote allowing a minority to dictate their destiny.

(15,139 posts)Bush 43 was the first, although he was installed by SCOTUS, not the "plain folks of the land." Come to think of it, Trump is stinking up the White House only because the gullible plain folks in a handful of states handed him an Electoral College majority. We seriously need to do something about a failed system in which the minority of not very bright voters can elect a moron to the Presidency.

(15,805 posts)Did someone tell him that was a great line, the perfect opening gambit to dazzle all them foreigners at the UN? Oops! They weren't supposed to know that he was lying! Trump seemed genuinely surprised that the UN members didn't behave like American audiences and just quietly accept his lies as the new normal.

It was awful. The few seconds I could hear it speaking because I foolishly turned on the TV and then walked away to get some coffee. I should have waited a moment or two for the just in case of life. I should have known better. I should have...
Oh, the agony of those 90 seconds. I was reduced to chanting LALALALALALALALA while I stirred the creamer. LALALALALA all the way back to the remote. Remote. What a lovely word. A remote memory. A remote island.
The orange blob exiled to a remote island on its way to being a remote memory.
But about that warning - we need one. We really need one.

(33,356 posts)The solution to our national disgrace -- have canned laughter piped throughout the White House, 24/7.
It should have the same effect as water on the Wicked Witch of the West, except in super slow-mo, with profanity and slobbering.
That's my hypothesis and I'm sticking to it.

(145,345 posts)The world is laughing at trump http://www.msnbc.com/rachel-maddow-show/the-un-trump-finds-the-world-literally-laughing-him
In the Reagan era, Trump insisted that bad guys were laughing at the United States. In 2011, The Atlantic ran a piece noting Trump making the same argument about international laughter, at Americans expense, during the Clinton, Bush, and Obama eras.
Everyone is always pointing and laughing at America, in Trumps view, The Atlantic piece noted. A psychologist might have a field day with this.
Stop by the Trump Twitter Archive and search for example of the president writing missives about people laughing at us. Its not a short list.
Traditionally, this has made Trump appear vaguely paranoid about ridicule that didnt really exist, responding to laughter that only he could hear. This morning, however, was an altogether different dynamic: at the United Nations, the world laughed at Trump.

I guess in one way he has accomplished more than any other administration in history: They ARE laughing at us now.
