Washington Times settles lawsuit with Seth Rich's brother, retracts conspiracy editorial

Source: The Hill

BY JOE CONCHA - 10/01/18 08:30 AM EDT

The Washington Times on Sunday issued a retraction and apology as part of a settlement over a story that included the brother of former Democratic National Committee staffer Seth Rich, whose murder in 2016 fueled political conspiracy theories.

Aaron Rich sued the right-leaning publication in March after it published an editorial that implied he and his brother had sent emails from Democratic National Committee servers and provided them to Wikileaks for cash.

The op-ed was titled “More cover-up questions: The curious murder of Seth Rich poses questions that just won’t stay under the official rug" and was written by retired Admiral James Lyons.

"The Column included statements about Aaron Rich, the brother of former Democratic National Committee staffer Seth Rich, that we now believe to be false," the Times writes in the retraction.

I was not objecting to this thread. I am glad to see that Moonie Times settled with the Rich family. The RWNJ media attacks on the Seth Rich family have been disgusting

I am glad to see that the moonie times settled with the Rich family. I just do not think that the moonie times is a credible news source. It would also be late breaking news each time that Alex Jones loses a court ruling.

10. Given the Times was part and parcel of the VRWC, I'm delighted to see they've lost this case...

Their coverage of the Rich story helped the anti-Hillary crowd defeat her. This is the Hill reporting on the Times' loss, not the Times itself. Articles from the Times are not considered as being sourced from a reputable mainstream media news site and cannot be posted in the LBN Forum...and this article from the Hill underscores the reasoning of that SOP policy

(or at least made to pay up and retract)

The Washington Times had always been the poster child of something I have posted about here on DU a number of times - RW loons (in this case, the original founder/owner Sun Myung Moon and his business entities) willing to publish their bullshit RW stories for years and years at a loss to help saturate the media with their propaganda - all since 1982. As we see today, this relentless push has now truly born fruit.
