New York state tax department reviewing fraud allegations involving Trump in NYT article

Source: CNBC

New York state tax officials are investigating allegations detailed in an exhaustive New York Times investigation into Donald Trump and his family's business dealings.

The Times reported on Tuesday that Trump and his family committed "instances of outright fraud" in order to transfer millions of dollars from the real estate empire of the president's father, Fred Trump, to his children without paying the appropriate taxes.

"The Tax Department is reviewing the allegations in the NYT article and is vigorously pursuing all appropriate avenues of investigation," a spokesman from the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance said in an email to CNBC.

Representatives from the White House and the Trump Organization did not return requests for comment.

his fair share of taxes. The IRS won't but NY will. As a matter of fact, any state or country in which a rump enterprise works/operates, would be entitled to review all filings of rump enterprises for a hint of fraud, which apparently occurred pretty frequently.

What a fraud.

...with interest over a few decades. There may be a statute of limitations regarding pressing criminal charges, but you still owe the money.

At least that's my understanding of it.

State & local taxes should be seen as separate criminal acts, different in nature than any federal tax crimes. 😋

See, if McConnell wouldn't have allowed tRump to withhold his tax returns, tRump would be eating ice cream in his hotel and this story probably wouldn't have ever come to light.

Gonna be hard for him now though. This could be really bad, in fact.
