Flake: I wouldn't be troubled if FBI didn't talk to Ford
Source: The Hill
BY MICHAEL BURKE - 10/03/18 07:58 AM EDT
Sen. Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.) said early Wednesday that it wouldn't bother him if the FBI doesn't interview Christine Blasey Ford, who has accused Brett Kavanaugh of sexual misconduct, as part of its reopened background investigation into the Supreme Court nominee.
Flake, appearing on NBC's "Today" show, said he thinks it's more important that the FBI "follow up on leads that might corroborate her account."'
"We have a statement of Dr. Ford and then we have hours of testimony, so, frankly, when we talked about an FBI investigation, it was to follow up leads that might corroborate her account," he said.
"So Im not troubled by that as much as if we came back and found out that the FBI only followed a couple of leads or interviewed just a couple of people. So Im anxious to hear back from the FBI," Flake added.

Flake: Trumps comments about Ford kind of appalling
BY MICHAEL BURKE - 10/03/18 07:48 AM EDT
Sen. Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.) early Wednesday criticized President Trump for his mocking comments at a rally about Christine Blasey Ford, the first woman to accuse Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh of sexual misconduct, calling Trump's remarks "kind of appalling."
"Theres no time and no place for remarks like that," Flake said while appearing on NBC's "Today" when asked about Trump's comments late Tuesday in Mississippi.
"To discuss something this sensitive at a political rally is just not right, its just not right. I wish he hadnt done it. Its kind of appalling," Flake added

(10,130 posts)and could get two brain cells to work together, he might realize there is something terribly wrong with this nomination.
He said lying would end it while ignoring his lies about torture during his years at the Bush White House, Judge Pickering, $200,000 credit card debt, an OSHA case, emails stolen from Democrats, Roe v Wade, disgraced Judge Kozinski from sexual misconduct allegations, etc.
And now his old letter signed "FFFFF, Bart" saying "Warn the neighbors that we're loud, obnoxious drunks with prolific pukers among us." - that is resounding proof he perjured himself during these hearings.

(5,271 posts)The main issue is not that FBI actually needs any more info from Dr. Ford as she has provided enough details and passed her polygraph, however Kavanaugh was not thoroughly questioned about his calendar and other matters involving Dr. Ford and he would quite likely have to lie or contradict his previous statements if FBI were to interrogate him.

(1,652 posts)because a disgruntled boyfriend of hers wrote a letter to him (I don't doubt that Grassley found him, rather than the other way around) they should talk to her again about the allegations and to try to catch HER in a lie, which they will not, because she's telling the truth. Then they should do the same for Kavanaugh. This is why they won't talk to them, because they know the outcome.

(1,803 posts)Ford already has offered sworn testimony and is on the record. The more important thing to do at this point is to follow other leads in order to corroborate Fords testimony and/or establish that Kavanaugh lied under oath.
As an aside, the fact that the FBI may finish its investigation early could be a good thing. The FBI is no friend to the Trump adminstration, and if it has developed evidence that Kavanaugh lied to Congress or committed some other disqualifying act, why would it continue to waste limited resources by continuing the investigation? This actually may explain why Trump distanced himself from Kavanaugh today and indicated that he would have problems if Kavanaugh I had lied to Congress.
We are reading tea leaves. Dont jump to conclusions.

That's EXACTLY what the FBI is doing. They are NOT being allowed to follow leads. They are NOT being allowed to do their jobs. They are being intentionally hobbled by the fucking trump White House.
FUCK.
Come on Mr. Mueller, Sir. You've got to help us NOW!

(2,462 posts)I am not so familiar with Flake, but maybe he's made up his mind on Kavanaugh and won't vote him in?
These senators on the fence are not only getting the FBI information but the pulse from the media and Americans...

I'm the same way as Flake. I don't need to hear anything else to believe her. I would be really surprised if he votes to confirm.
