Owner of Texas restaurant chain pulls ‘hundreds of thousands of dollars’ of business out of Maine to protest Collins’ vote

09 Oct 2018 at 14:38 ET

Response to the decision by Maine Republican Susan Collins to cast her vote to confirm newly-seated Associate Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh is affecting the senator’s constituents as calls for a boycott of her home state grow. While well over $3.5 million has been raised to fund Collins’ as yet unknown 2020 opponent, activists are hoping to make an immediate impact on her future fortunes by hitting the state in the pocketbook.

According to the local Press Herald, political commentator and radio personality John Fugelsang got the boycott rolling with a tweet to his 413,000 followers saying, “Dear Susan Collins — I really struggled with this but my tourist $ just voted against ever visiting Maine while you remain in office.”

The Press Herald reports that Fugelsang’s declaration has struck a chord with his followers who are following suit, including the owner of a Texas restaurant chain who said he is moving his seafood orders to neighboring New England states.

“I am so disappointed and angry at her,” Tesar about the embattled GOP senator. “My intent is not to hurt the fishermen, it’s to have them vote her out of office. The only way to make a difference in this day and age is economically, and on November 6th.”..............................

It's pretty difficult for Tesar to say that he is going to avoid Texas produce and still operate a restaurant in Texas.

It looks like the race is a tossup at the moment. Maine has had that republican jerk Paul LePage since 2011. It will be nice to see him gone. He is term limited but I don't want the republican candidate to win.

Why would any Main-iac vote for her for anything short of presidential ass-wiper ?

I had always wondered the same thing, but another recent thread mentioned the condition she had.

So I will refrain from mentioning it.

Otherwise, she is a POS, and her whole charade was just that, a charade. She played the media for all it was worth.

I too, whenever possible, will boycott anything to do with Maine.

Yes, people will be hurt, but enough of them voted for her to keep her in for many years. Unfortunately, with no pain, there will be no change.

So be it.

I have seen several stories in recent weeks where business owners such as Mr. Texas Chain Restaurant owner has decided to make a political statement with their business. I have noticed that in these stories, the business, restaurant, etc. are not named.

Not mentioned to limit the effect of such actions or to limit the citizenry from joining such actions/participating or to protect the owner from back-lash from the RW loons?
