Christopher Steele Breaks 18-Month Silence With Swipe at Trump

Source: Daily Beast

.
Christopher Steele—the former British secret agent who compiled the infamous dossier about Donald Trump’s relationship with Russia—has broken an 18-month silence to take a swipe at the president. Steele praised people who speak “unpalatable truths to power” and condemned Trump’s administration as “distorted and one-sided.” He was writing in Vanity Fair after being named one of the 100 most influential people in the media, politics, entertainment, and finance. “In these strange and troubling times, it is hard to speak unpalatable truths to power, but I believe we all still have a duty to do so,” he wrote. “I salute those on your list, and otherwise, who have had the courage to speak out over the last year, often at great personal cost. At a time when governance is so distorted and one-sided, as I believe it currently is in the United States, the media has a key role to play in holding it accountable.”

He could have been more critical of them also, they enabled and enable Trump to this very day.

The amount of free air time they gave that shithead was despicable. I won't forget that.

Even this morning I had to turn off Good Morning America quickly before they started shoving the porn star of a flotus down our throats. You know very well that Trump gave her her marching orders to be more visible and do more interviews this close to an important election, so here we go. I couldn't turn off the TV fast enough.

I see we have another thread about the latest Trump hate fest rally in Iowa with the angry mob chanting lock her up to DiFi. Meanwhile, no coverage of the investigation into Trump's server being connected to the Russian Alfa bank.

I also see that the NRA's contributions to Repugs is down 90% this year seeing as it is under FBI investigation.

I get so furious that the really important issues aren't even reported.

People wonder why I don't have cable or why I don't listen to NPR much any longer. As far as I'm concerned, they are useless in their pseudo attempt at appeasing their corporate masters.

without the media we'd be totally fucked. Everything you know is by virtue of good reporting by the media. Its an easy target, but it's the wrong one. Russia and the GOP are the villains here, not the media.

No, I don't work for the media. I work in resource conservation and watershed management. Consider this. Trump hates the media. Why do you think that is? The right wing hate the media (except for Fox News and right wing talk radio). Why do you think that is? Wake up and figure out that the media is not going to be the equivalent of advertising for the left. But they have been exposing and reporting on every single illegal, immoral, and undemocratic action of the right. Only losers blame the media for everything. It is time you focussed on the politicians on the right who are destroying our democracy and the corporations and wealthy donors that are warping our democratic system. Attacking the media does Putin's work for him, dude. Wake up! Putin hates our media too. Tump hates our media. Grassley hates our media. Graham hates our media. McConnell hates out media. Paul Ryan hates our media. They must be doing a great deal right. Cut them a little slack. We need the media.

ran their anti Kerry ad a handful of times. Most of their on air exposure was presented as news by the media, lending it an air of credibility. The media is far from liberal. News was never for profit / ratings until Reagan vetoed the Fairness Doctrine restoration. What followed was / is hate radio and Pox News(propaganda) 24 / 7 Republican campaign ad.

The thing is that it isn't just Fox and AM radio, CNN and msnbc run the same right wing narratives, they merely put a progressive slant to it.

I have used this example many times. Fox says that Obama beats his wife, CNN says it needs more information, and msnbc says No he doesn't. What's the difference? All 3 are still talking about the same narrative.

And several documentaries (including several American Greed) you are - dam straight - that I'm pissed about my case.

But, not only mine. There's the case of Meryl Lanson, that of UCLA Law Professor LoPucki, Asst US Attorney Rick Convertino, that of Mark Feathers, or Richard Fine.

And Cameron Todd Willingham (who Perry murdered)

As for my case, it is Toys R Us and Trump related. Warned many in the media that Toys R Us would go BK; and I sued Trump to prevent it (seeking TRO against Jay Clayton for SEC). They knew the case would go viral, so a Fed Clerk in D.C. illegally refused to docket my case for 9 weeks - until it was too late.

Main stream has been lame stream, concerning our cases

Not a single media outlet, other than Activist Post's Aaron Kessel, has addressed this nationally significant & important issue of Clerk tampering with cases in an obstructive manner.
