Conway: Blue wave forecasts coming from 'same geniuses' who predicted Clinton win
Source: Politico

Widespread predictions of a blue wave of Democratic victories in next months midterm elections should be taken with a hefty grain of salt, counselor to the president Kellyanne Conway warned Wednesday morning, because they emanate from the same geniuses who all but guaranteed a landslide win for Hillary Clinton in 2016.
"Let's not forget the same geniuses that predicted a huge romp by that woman who lost in 2016 are the same people predicting a huge win by the Democrats this time," Conway told Fox Newss Fox & Friends. "So we have to be a little bit cautious."
Conway's comments come with less than a month to go before Novembers midterm elections, in which Republicans will seek to defend their majorities in both houses of Congress. Spurred by President Donald Trumps low approval ratings and a surge in enthusiasm among Democratic voters, pundits across the political landscape have widely forecasted Democratic gains on Election Day.
A total of 68 Republican-held House seats are currently in jeopardy of flipping parties, according to a POLITICO analysis, rated lean Republican or worse for the GOP. There are 209 House seats either firmly or leaning Democratic, that same analysis showed, just nine seats short of the 218 needed to claim the majority.

They don't need to get out and vote if it's too much trouble. They can vote for a write in if they want. It doesn't matter. They have it in the bag.
If your are a republican voter and trump supporter, get yourself a triple super burger and some freedom fried with a 48 oz sugar drink, go fire off $50 of ammo at some log, drink some beer and abuse your family. Make a night of it. Don't worry about voting. Trump's got this.

We all know Kellyanne the only reason your orange turd of a boss is sitting his fat ass illegally in the White House is because Putin altered vote totals. Keep talking your shit lady, the gallows accepts females too.

(54,397 posts)Manipulation of 80,000 votes spread out over 3 states doesn't change that. Besides, manipulation of 200 or so congressional races involves a little more work, although the "Internet Research Agency" has had two years to prepare.
Yes, we expect a few disappointing "surprise Republican upset victories" again this time, but this time we know to dig for the real cause of each one of them, and we know by now, it wasn't that "the polls were way off."
I just hope that the new Congress enacts a law requiring a mandatory minimum 15 years for electoral manipulation, and that a few perps get to serve out those sentences. The Republicans are the "Law And Order" party, right? Surely they wouldn't object to a new law requiring harsh sentences for interference with one of America's most sacred institutions, would they? Uh-oh, when they find out that what was meant by "one of America's most sacred institutions" was NOT a religious sect, they might not like the idea so much.

(65,057 posts)I know you've heard of it. And, we had people who would clearly tend to vote D, but were too lazy to get out to vote, or they got suppressed.
I'm sure you know that the dems in the House accumulated far more total votes than the R's despite the majority of the seated reps.

(16,113 posts)ProfessorGAC
(65,057 posts)They didn't get enough votes. There is no EC. You get more votes you won. The R's cheated to GET MORE VOTES!
Adam Kinzinger (my rep and professional liar) got more votes than his opponent. He's my rep. He didn't get it by an EC that gave 100% of the electoral votes to someone who actually got less but won the right precincts.
You're spinning in your own circle, Hughee.

(16,113 posts)representation of the will of the people because there's no Electoral college... but backtracked on that when I asked why we didn't control the house (yes, you're right, I already knew why).
I guess we'll know soon (though not til 2020) as the Senate is not affected by either the EC or gerrymandering.

A "surplus" of progressive votes will be needed to offset this next round of corruption and skullduggery, not to mention strategic voter purging. And HEY Kellyanner, it doesn't take a genius. Just honest elections and reasonable unobstructed access for all eligible voters.

(58 posts)were the Republicans to lose the House and the Senate but came up some BS reason, like Chinese hacking, to reject the results of a Democratic takeover, who could make them accept the results?

(146,317 posts)No way at all. This has come up before. Elections are strictly a state issue, and within each state a county issue. The federal government has nothing to do with actual elections. Keep that in mind.
Even the Presidential election is 50 separate state elections to select electors for the Electoral College. The Constitution made elections a state matter.
Sudsy
(58 posts)until the Kavanaugh confirmation. Were the Court to overturn Powell v. McCormack by returning Article 1, Section 5 of the Constitution to its pre-1969 interpretation, a congressional majority could most certainly refuse to seat new members legally elected by the states, not that I believe it is likely, but all the pieces are in play to make it possible, and I am coming to believe the Republican Party will do anything to maintain power.

(1,345 posts)it's a quote from Kelly Ann Conway, on Fox and Friends. It's a bad decision by Politico to make this a news story and it's a bad decision to post it in LBN.
Just to illustrate, look at this other story, which has reporting, with numbers, about people registering to vote, which was locked as being "opinion and analysis"

(6,931 posts)But Republicans will NEVER let go of an 200 year old "college" that was put in place ONLY because they thought back then people were too stupid to know who to really vote for so they had the LAST word.
A vote is a vote, everyone gets just one. People shouldn't be PUNISHED with a farce like Trump because they choose to live in a more populated State. Each vote should count as ONE and not be decided by a single vote getting all the Electoral votes for that State.

(9,350 posts)If Democrats vote on election day there will be a blue wave. If Independents side with the Democrats there will be an even bigger blue wave. Part of the reason Hilary Clinton did not win the electoral college vote is because Democrats and Independents in key states either voted for Trump, voted for a third party candidate, or did not vote at all. The Republican Party is also on the verge of losing senior citizens. As a result of Trump and the Republican Party attacking Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid seniors are thinking about siding with the Democrats in the midterms.
